[BOOK SPOILERS] Gendry and Melisandre Scene

That's pretty creepy, since she's supposed to be a little kid and he's a grown man.

As long as its not Edric the one suffering the leeches this time around, I can get used to see Gendry on his plot.

ETA: As to Arya and Gendry, they never went beyond wrestling and bickering on the books. They wouldn't even know how they feel if the show would've never split them.

I am normally all for seeing Carice, she is fine as hell. But honestly all I was thinking was "he belongs to Arya, get off him, slut!". I question my masculinity after that thought.

This made me laugh, thank you for that comic relief in an otherwise bland sex debate. :P

It would be different if Mel would tie him up and continue to be sexy with him

But she did... she whispered "you must trust me" and then continued to kiss and caress him all over.

People are taking Mel's "showing the lamb the knife" conversation with Stannis way too literally. The context of that discussion was Stannis basically asking, "why are you cleaning him up and treating him nicely? Why not just throw him in a cell while he awaits death?". People are taking that, and jumping to the conclusion that "ANY amount of fear INSTANTLY spoils the blood"... which is a false equivalence.

It made for a neat parallel between them and Arya & The Hound too.

Melisandre was pleasant, mysterious, erotic yet she only ended up hurting Gendry. The Hound, on the other hand, was unpleasant and blunt yet he ended up being the first character who made Arya smile.

For someone who insists to rely in our senses to tell what's real from what's not, Melisandre was oddly misleading and, for someone who insists he's nothing but a killer, the Hound was almost tender as he held Arya on his horse.

How did Melisandre even get to the brotherhood? She may be able to see with her flames. Although Dragonstone Keep is above Kings Landing we can see this on the starting map. Maybe there might be a scale for the continent. Errors like Varys knows what Theon did in the Iron Islands and Winterfell next sceen later, his spies must be using teleports. Ravens would take months. The battle of the Black Water in the TV version claimed no Kings Landing navy. Joffery saying where are my ships. Melisandre sails past the Red Keep on route back to Dragonstone avoiding any navy. In Kings Landing Varys spies have said they know of Melsiandre and Stannis converting to R'hllor.. Melisandre making it to the brotherhood's hideout in a time of war is questionable? Avoiding any Tyrells, Lannistars, Starks, the Mountain and every other cutthroat in that reigon.

Away from any of that. Stannis is not jealous as a man or a even a king. Yes he needs Melisandre as much as she needs him, but come on now that is streching it? (Stannis) Look into my eyes and tell me Melisandre, you didn't fuck the Bastard? Davos go get the charcoal where gonna have ourselves a barbcued bastard we even got some firelighter leeches.

The sceen works in as much as a witch would do an occultist ritual. Although as king druid he wouldn't have claimed the rights of her passage?

I vote burn bastard burn. Then we wouldn't see a bastard v bastard showdown where this can only be leading

I've always thought Mel was more of a blood mage than a follower of R'hllor. Or at least, blood magic is where she gets her power from.

I think this season has been suggesting that with her reaction to Bedric and this scene. Perhaps it was her frustration in not being able to do miracles like Thoros that led her to dabble in Blood Magic in the first place. Visions weren't enough for her, she wanted power.

They even hammer the point by having Gendry talk about how this doesn't seem very religious. So rather than being a pointless scene, I see it as another hint about the origin of Mel's power.

From the SOIAF Wiki - A Maegi is a woman of Essos who practices blood magic.[1] Blood magic is very powerful, but enjoys an awful and possibly well-deserved reputation. It is hated, mistrusted and forbidden by the Dothraki, who claim that the Maegi lay with demons. They may sometimes go so far as to kill anyone even assumed to be Maegi, as to prevent said Maegi from 'cursing' them with evil magic. Maegi often show a remarkable capability of telling one's future, usually from a drop of blood.[2] According to Mirri Maz Duur, the word means "wise"

I didn't get why was Gendry screaming - he only had few leeches on him, that shouldn't be so bad. I mean for me it was a relief to see that, I was afraid Melisandre was about to do something more painful.

Date rape tends to have that effect...Woman's viagra would leave him leeched.... Not to be expected from a glass of wine, when sharing a date with a succubus. Stimulants would leave screaming, innocence not that ab lib.. Burn him don't leech him,

Hope Stannis was wearing gloves, Mel did you take a shower afterwards

At first he was just like 'hey man, I don't want those nasty leeches on me!' then SHE PUT ONE ON HIS NOODLE and THAT's when he started screaming. Wouldn't you scream if some smoking hot witch babe put some fat, Westerosi, GRRM LEECHES on your NOODLE???!!!!
