Finnegan
Kevin Barry - A satyrical journalist and short-story writer who just published his first collection There are Little Kingdoms . Probably not available outside of Ireland and to be honest it's hard to know if his humour would travel. Flann O'Brien - Author of The Third Policeman and At Swim Two Birds. A genius. J.M Synge - I'm not sure if we're allowed to use playwrights but J.M Synge is surely Ireland's greatest. Riders to the sea remains one of the most powerful pieces of writing I've ever read. That's just off the top of my head. Ireland has such a great literary tradition that I could be here all day.
