It was more likely that dany would die before the honeymoon was over. That's something you would do if you didn't like the Targs. They really didn't need more soldiers either, they needed ships. The eggs. fine the eggs were just gifts. PRICELESS gifts for a girl who will likely never be heard from again. A nice necklace would have sufficed and illyrio wouldn't be out a fortune - and that man must sell A LOT of cheese. And if you had a faux Targ, having a cache of dragon eggs to flash around adds to the con. If Illyrio can afford dragon eggs, and massive bribes and his lavish lifestyle, he could have simply paid for more companies and some ships rather than a sketchy dothraki plan. Dany. If you have a faux targ, it seems to make more sense to marry him to only known targ female in existence who also happens to be the perfect age. Sure a Margy or Arianne is more politically useful but Dany adds to the con. And any child has a legitimate claim no matter what shit hits the fan in the future. It just seems like a complete waste to push Dany on horselord who was never going to invade westeros. It made more sense to kill Viserys way earlier so then Dany is the only other Targ claimant. Dany is again is most valuable as Aegons queen regardless if he is faux, targ or blackfyre. They didn't have any interest in Dany until she had the dragons so she wasn't part of any plan IMO. When the company complains about the changing plan, I think its because they kept changing it because of events in the Iron Kingdom and wars in the east. and wasn't really related to V and D. The only reason to keep V alive is just letting him do PR, so people don't forget there are Targs.
