what does it mean if someone gets horned? i still don't get that expression

It means their wife is cheating on them. I'm not sure on the exact origins of it though.

I assume nameday is the day of the naming. If done with a little ceremony (like a christening), it's not necessarily the same day as the day the child was born anyways. With the wildlings the discrepancy is considerable, but then I don't remember the wildlings making such a big fuss about namedays anyways.

I think the reason I associated name-day with the day a person is born is because of the expression "as naked as his/her name-day" which I have seen used quite a bit.

Hey guys, first time poster here.

I was just wondering, how were the crownlands divided up pre-AL? Was it a roughly equal division between the surrounding kingdoms? Or were the lands ruled independently by the minor houses that rule currently?

I tried to look for a map to answer this but I had no luck.

Thanks in advance to whoever answers this.

"The size of the force that departed Dragonstone is believed to have been 3,000. Others believe it could have only a few hundred. They landed at the Blackwater, a place where a hundred kings of old had lain claim to. No kings ruled from there now, only a few petty lords lived nearby who were ruled by Harren and they loved him little. Aegon sent his sisters to nearby Rosby and Stokeworth and the castles surrendered without bloodshed. Darklyn of Duskendale and Mooton of Maidenpool did fight. Orys led the army while Aegon rode Balerion high in the sky. They won an easy victory."

Who's the other bandit that arrives with Rast to the Wall? He's "mentioned" in the second book of Tyrion in GoT, when Jon goes to the Wall for the first time along with Yoren, Rast, this other guy, and Tyrion and his two guards

Why did Duncan the small give up his crown for Jenny was she illegitimate?

We don't know much about Jenny of Oldstones, it will probably be explained in a future Dunk and Egg book. She may have been illegitimate, I believe Oldstones was already a ruin during her lifetime so it's sorta odd that she was of there. She also hung out with that woods witch who claimed to be a child of the forest. Maybe she was baron and since they could never have children it was decided that Duncan shouldn't be king.

On the wiki it said he "gave up his crown for her" but I don't have a book reference. Even if he didn't give up his crown it mattered little since he died with his father.

here it is, in aDwD:

The Prince of Dragonflies loved Jenny of Oldstones so

much he cast aside a crown, and Westeros paid the bride price in corpses. All three of the sons of the

fifth Aegon had wed for love, in defiance of their father’s wishes. And because that unlikely monarch

had himself followed his heart when he chose his queen, he allowed his sons to have their way, making

bitter enemies where he might have had fast friends. Treason and turmoil followed, as night follows day,

ending at Summerhall in sorcery, fire, and grief.

Isn't Lark the Sisterman? Both of them came from a Gulltown dungeon, right?

How many people were killed at the RW? Is there an actual body count or a reliable estimate?

From the wiki

The Red Wedding is a massacre that takes place at the Twins in 299AL during the War of the Five Kings, in which the King in the North, Robb Stark, his mother Catelyn Stark, and most of his 3,500 bannermen are slaughtered
