Perhaps. But my point is that -- and this is not just in this particular context -- people talk about whether or not something is a disorder based on whether or not the current version of the DSM says it was. Which leads to hard-scratchers like someone doesn't have a disorder one day, but does the next, because the definition in the DSM changed. And maybe they'll be "cured" when it changes back.

Indeed, the DSM is a fucking viper's pit of confusion and fuckery.

I didn't quote 'a lot' because I thought it was mispelled. I quoted it as a point of irony, since you are making a bogus claim that I am making a large number of fuck-ups.

As for you question......

Yup. You did.

Thanks, I am aware. But since this dicussion was pulled from another board, you might want to check at the politics forums to see how we arrived at that distinction.

Pretty sure we cleared that up. The current DSM, has indeed, been updated and no longer refers to Transgender folks as having a 'disorder'. So i was right. They did revise it.

they do that... a lot. I'm sure you can site.. er cite the correct passage out of the book that states it.

Um, the two other classification systems that still rate it as a mental health disorder, perhaps?

... one of which is DSM IV, and the other of which is a, not a specialist mental illness classification system and b, somewhat older than DSM-V and therefore not as up-to-date.

In any case, as I have said, doctors operating both these classification systems do not regard gender dysphoria as a disorder: the system changes to reflect existing practise in the field. It doesn't, usually, lead practise in the field.

And, again, even when the general classification of 'disorder' was applied, this was not an indication of a severe mental illness. DSM-IV also includes, for example, 'social phobia', 'oppositional defiant disorder', 'nicotine dependence', and 'fetishism'. It covers everything from night terrors to complete catatonia. The comparison to delusional beliefs is an ignorant and foolish one that only someone ignorant of mental health issues would, or could, make.

You're just not very bright. And it's evidenced by the fact you think a dishonorably discharged convict is equivalent to an active duty individual serviceman( or woman) when it comes to receiving healthcare benefits from the military. If that wasn't enough, your resorting to personal attacks because you don't agree with a position pretty much reinforces it.

You're complaining about personal attacks after calling someone, "not very bright"? Is English a second language for you?
