Schlimazl
Eleanor Catton of New Zealand won the prize becoming the youngest winner to date. Once again maybe not coming from anglophone world i don't see the cultural significance of the Commonwealth or the early break of Americans. What I see is the prize for English-written literature given to the writers from at least partialy English speaking former colonies and the metropolia, because of this I don't think the character is really changed and I'm not sure how much of it comes from the Commonwealth limitations since for a long time it was living in parallel with the Commonwealth book prize. delete this account pls
Oh, I just finished The Luminaries. It was decent but I admired it more than I actually enjoyed it. Having not read any of the other nominees I cant really say whether it's deserving but it's certainly an impressive work.
Suttree
Man, thought for sure it would go to Jim Crace for "Harvest".
Iskaral Pust
Oh, I just finished The Luminaries. It was decent but I admired it more than I actually enjoyed it. Having not read any of the other nominees I cant really say whether it's deserving but it's certainly an impressive work. I'm just reading it now myself. I'm enjoying it a lot, but only two-thirds through. Let's see how well it ends.
