MisterOJ
Done and done! You'll thank me when you get to the end of The King's Blood. I had no intention of reading The Tyrant's Law right away... but with the way it ended, there was no way I could escape it's pull!

MisterOJ
Well, I'm not to the end of The Tyrant's Law yet. I'm sorta hoping that it doesn't end quite as enticingly as The King's Blood. :)
ManBearPig
The Bruce and his companions have just made their way to an island in Loch Lomond by way of a zigzagging causeway hidden just below the surface of the water. Sounds very familiar, hmmmm.........Reading the Robert the Bruce trilogy by Nigel Tranter as recommended by GRRM in his blog a while back.

Oh, well.

I'm sorta hoping that it doesn't end quite as enticingly as The King's Blood. :)I fear that your hopes are inevitably going to be dashed. If we had a thread for compelling endings for middle books in series then I think it would be near the top of the list.

deleted01
Definitely agree on The Tyrant's Law. The ending is so amazing and yet horrible, because the next book is not in reach and I must find out more! Started The Cuckoo's Calling a few days ago, am onto part 2 now and I'm really enjoying it. I'm liking the mystery, and the omniscient narrator is done very well. Is it a standalone book? I thought I read somewhere that it'll be part of a series. Candre
Finished Galaxy in Flames by Ben Counter. While I probably will not read more of the Horus Heresy series, the startig triology sure was a lot of fun.
Rody
I just finished American Gods, like every other book that I read, to start reading it is a pain in the ass, then I get hooked onto the book. I loved American Gods, loved it to death, but it is a book that you definitely need to have google opened so you can see what God is being mentioned and etc.

Snowborn
Just finished with Red Seas Under Red Skies. I only got completely into it past the first half of the book (right on the 50% mark, I checked on that). It took me exactly two months, according to Goodreads, to get past that point, and, after that, only two days to finish it. I think the setting played a huge part in that, I just love maritime tales. Not that I don't like Lynch's cities. I still don't understand why it takes me that long to get into his books, it was the same with Lies... I do enjoy them a lot, but I don't get as captivated by them from the beginning as I did with Abercrombie's books. Now I'm looking forward to reading Republic of Thieves. I hadn't jumped this early into such a long unfinished series since Harry Potter (though I gave up on it after four books), ASoIaF doesn't count because I only found out about it after five books had already been published.(Continuing with that Gentleman Bastard series references to Final Fantasy VI... Strago(s)! But he should have been the owner of the gambling house.)Since I really just finished with the book, I don't know what to read next. Maybe Wool, now that I have the right book? The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?Dune Messiah? Ring of Fire will arrive in like a month... I also want to read The Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino.
