Hello Aussie friends,

I have a friend who moved out to Melbourne in February. I am trying to make a visit over there once you guys have beach weather down under. When does your official beach season kick off? Ours kicks off the last weekend of May (America). Thanks!

Well on current weather it seems that it started in winter! Although the water is probably still cold. No idea when that heats up, but I'd expect the weather to be nice and warm by October unless this year changes its trajectory.

Spent the morning walking around the Parramatta CBD and station and wasn't harrassed by a single candidate or party faithful. I didn't even sight any to have to dodge. Marginal seats aren't what they used to be, are the parties all as bored as us?

Palmer's crew (all one of them) were handing out shite at Perth station this morning. We ignored him.

His biggest problem was that he was less popular than the bloke saying "Big Issue, Big Issue"

I don't think such a quick backflip is reassuring. They've had a long time to get the 'wording' of their policy correct. I think they made a deliberate gutless decision to hide this until the advertising blackout came into effect in the hope that no-one would notice. I also reckon they've seen some polling on it or spent some time on fb or twitter feeds and decided to back out of it after it was apparent that reaction was so negative.

It sounded like the policy was reasonably fleshed out, so it doesn't really fit in to the category of poorly worded. Sounds like a back flip to me, and makes you question what else is buried in the costings...

It also seemed that Turnbull might have been genuinely unaware. Given the arrogant assumption of victory they've been showing it might have been a deliberate throw under the bus to hurt the popular rival.

Another story I've seen tonight suggested that Hockey didn't have a clue about it either.
