Jeor
Come to my electorate of Bradfield, where you'll find a roughly 70% two party-preferred Liberal candidate. Probably no coincidence that Bradfield is apparently the richest electorate in the country.

brook
 I like him but I almost didn't vote for him myself, it was only a last minute anti-gay marriage scare campaign against him that annoyed me enough to change my vote in his favour. SeanF
It really is heartwarming the way almost everyone on both sides of politics have been coming together to rejoice in the prospect of no more Sophie Sophie looks like she'll just about make it. karaddin
Where are you getting that from? She was behind 51.8-48.2 when I thought counting closed for today, ~1800 votes iirc.

SeanF
I was on the verge of giving up, then those numbers came through this afternoon and I had a fresh surge of hope! Various commentators think she'll just scrape back in once the postal votes have been counted.

karaddin
So when does the Coalition realise it's in government and start talking about itself instead of thinking it can continue for the next 3 years by shitting on Labor and claiming "mandate, roll over!". I'm getting fucked off already at revisionist horseshit from the likes of Peter Reith.

I'm getting fucked off already at revisionist horseshit from the likes of Peter Reith.welcome to "policy" Tony Abbott style. We're going to spend the next few years hearing about how all of our troubles are because of labor's 6 years of mismanagement and their refusal to respect the coalition's "mandate" to do wtf they want to do. gryphon strike
Well the wedding went great and the weekend was exhausting but it is all good :DAs for Abbott what can I say, it is his insistence that he needs control of the senate also to be able to effectively run the country. I am wondering why he needs TOTAL POWER. That is the sign of a dictator rather than an elected representative. If he does call a double dissolution then I will do what little I can to oppose him because having studied history I will not repeat such an obvious mistake. Stubby
Chris Bowen made a good point yesterday. After Abbott said that they were not going to recall parliament early (meaning there is a 2 month delay) Bowen said that he thought, from Abbott's bleating before the election, that the economy and the borders needed urgent attention.ETA: Congratulations Gryph! :D
