The Corn Code revision 10, "Advena. Periculum. Mortis." Martins Hendiatris?

Don't be disappointed it was fun while it lasted. Though I don't think they are codes either, which I mention in the OP and the thread. Thanks for asking him.

You know if I was a suspicious man I would say the timing of your post and Rans post on a thread I have not posted in well over a month and Ran even longer is odd to say the least about 30 minutes. But I am way to tired to be suspicious, so again thanks for asking random stranger. Hmmmm Random Stranger, know there is a screen name worth looking into.

You know I would not have thought to have looked at the Corn code had not gotten a couple of emails about the odd posts. You got love those random multiple coincidences happening out of the blue. You know I busted a guy the other day, he didn't know where the Cocaina in his hand came from or why he handed to that nice young woman who also happened to be handing him money and she was wasn't sure how she even ended up on the west side, but sure enough I thought it was an exchange for drugs. Crazy, I know. Poor innocent dears got busted because of evil me.

Come on really? At least except the fact that it looks a little suspicious. Ran doesn't even read this thread. Doesn't matter I don't really have time for the thread if you can't tell, so if it needs dropping, it's dropped. But guys come on coincidence or not that looks suspicious as hell. It almost makes me want to find the time for the Corn code again. Please don't offer to sell me a giant used bridge in San Fran next.

Ser Creighton, if somebody asked GRRM about some of my projects, like "George, what do you think how important are animal motifs are in ASOIAF?" I would be honored with that (those of you who contact with the man, please be free to ask him about Animal project :)). I sincerely doubt there is any ill will towards you or your ideas, but you have to understand that when it's not working, it's not working. Accept the defeat, and turn to something that has chances to be indeed correct. Some of us have issues with this idea since its inception (hell, I needed to read it two times to know it's not working for me). So, be a gentleman and sportsman, say never mind, and start working on something else... It would be for the best...

I was and it was not that post that surprised me, it's Ran's post 30 minutes later that surprised me. I think it's great someone asked him. Now had it been you or a member I know, even Apple I would not think anything of it. But when someone who post 5-6 six times sense August randomly pops up at 2am Melbourne time and then says they spoke to Martin about the code and Ran pops up right after that by chance and says thanks it looks shady to me. It's more along the lines of Ran not following this thread and already having condemned it a month and half ago and not posting a single thing suddenly pops up on a thread he doesn't follow right after that post. A thread that has had no traffic for a month, not even by me. Suddenly there he is.

How often does that happen? That a poster suddenly speaks to Martin about one of these theories? R+L=Jon and ummm, well it doesn't happen much. It's not like and interview question, it's taking a total strangers word for it. Now I am not saying that person, Greeneyes is making it up. I am just saying the timing of Rans post is odd. Maybe he had more interest in it than I thought and checks it ever hour on the hour, maybe he just happen to see it and got curious. Doesn't matter much I haven't had time for it.

Now about your threads, I did speak to Martin in Melbourne and he told me you were wrong. Ran feel free to chime in. I also spoke to him about the Corn code and he said I was brilliant and has no idea who Greeneyes is and said he never said that. See why it looks a little shady? That doesn't mean it's BS as we all know looks can be deceiving. This just looks fishy to me. It's also going to set a bad precedent. So if people just start popping up saying hey I spoke to Martin your theory is wrong or right are you going to believe everyone that says that? Don't get me wrong here I am a very jaded person, Greeneyes could be telling the truth and that's great. But in my line of work people lie to me everyday, and this doesn't pass the smell test for me. Not like I can do much about it.

Now if Ran had said he gave Martin revision 10 of the code and Martin laughed at him and was like is this a joke, I would totally believe it. Timing is everything, and that is as odd of timing as it gets with those 2 posts. But again I am jaded, part of my job description is people are going to lie to me all the time. So my perception of honest nice people can get skewed at times.

[mod] Knock it off. Grumbling about 'odd' timing and implying far-fetched conspiracies to debunk your pet theory is, without doubt, 'personalising debate' and we very clearly ask users to refrain from doing that. [/mod]

Hey, Ser Creighton, I'm still here, very real and I did ask GRRM about your Corn Codes. To be honest, I'd been suspicious about poor grammar in some parts of Dance and the Corn Codes seemed to give a plausible explanation.

Why did I post at 2 am Melbourne time? Because I was on such a high after actually asking GRRM the question. I stood during the Q&A after the normal interview, waiting my turn, which never came. Had to wait until all the high paying people had their books signed & eventually got to ask GRRM near 11 pm. It must have been after 12 by the time I got home.

Why did Ran comment straight after me? I can't be any surer than you, but my suspicion is that he has inside information that he isn't permitted to divulge on the forum and had the thread on "watch" waiting for someone else to ask GRRM.

I agree, I haven't been here long, a fan-come-lately, and that's because I'm too much of an addictive reader to read much. I think it took me a little over a month to get through all 5 books of ASOIAF, leaving way too much catching up in the rest of my life.

So, apart from the Dunk & Egg stories and the Princess and the Queen, I've been avoiding reading & these forums for a while, as they tend to keep me awake when I should be asleep (currently 5.30 and still not asleep:(

To cut a ramble short, I won't be making thousands of posts here, but I may happen to make some count. It's what I do as a practical scientist - do my utmost to make each question count and run the experiment rather than hypothesizing endlessly. If you want to be sure, ask GRRM yourself, or find someone else to repeat my question. As I come back to the forum from time to time you'll find that I may forget textural quotes, but I don't make up conversations to frustrate anyone's genuine research and interests. In your work I can see it happens all the time, and also in mine I have no time for people making stuff up. It's difficult enough to get things working anyway.

You're most welcome to meet for a chat about codes if you ever are in Melbourne, by the way ;)

Edited to add invitation for a chat.

Just to add, no, don't have it set to watch (I don't really use the watch feature). But I regularly check new posts in threads I've posted in during the day, and I suppose was looking right at the time you posted, so... there you are.

I dont know if this has been posted before but what about Cersei Walk of Shame chapter

Bells were ringing, ringing, ringing. "That can't be the queen," a boy said,

"she's saggy as my mum." This is my penance, Cersei told herself. I have sinned most grievously, this is my atonement. It will be over soon, it will be behind me, then I can forget...............

If anything, the jeers and shouts were cruder here. Her walk had not taken her through Flea Bottom, so its denizens had packed onto the lower slopes of Aegon's High Hill to see the show. The faces leering out at her from behind the shields and spears of the Poor Fellows seemed twisted, monstrous, hideous. Pigs and naked children were everywhere underfoot, crippled beggars and cutpurses swarmed like roaches through the press. She saw men whose teeth had been filed into points, hags with goiters as big as their heads, a whore with a huge striped snake draped about breasts and shoulders, a man whose cheeks and brow were covered with open sores that wept grey pus. They grinned and licked their lips and hooted at her as she went limping past, her breasts heaving with the effort of the climb. Some shouted obscene proposals, others insults. Words are wind, she thought, words cannot hurt me. I am beautiful, the most beautiful woman in all Westeros, Jaime says so, Jaime would never lie to me. Even Robert, Robert never loved me, but he saw that I was beautiful, he wanted me. She did not feel beautiful, though. She felt old, used, filthy, ugly. There were stretch marks on her belly from the children she had borne, and her breasts were not as firm as they had been when she was younger. Without a gown to hold them up, they sagged against her chest. I should not have done this. I was their queen, but now they' ve seen, they' ve seen, they've seen

The "ringing, ringing, ringing" is interesting, but not because of the Corn Code (which doesn't exist, as we have learned, assuming there's no insane conspiracy going on between Ran and Green Eyes... *cough*)

The triple "ringing" was present at the Red Wedding, the Purple Wedding and at Cersei's walk of shame.

I still think a code exists it doesnt have to be Corn per say.

A pity this thread has died... I was really enjoying all the analysis, especially because I had noticed the recurring number 3 in all aspects of the books and was doing extensive research on the matter. For example, I so wanted to share the fact that: "Cerberus in Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed dog, or "hellhound" with a serpent's tail, a mane of snakes, and a lion's claws. He guards the entrance of the underworld to prevent the dead from escaping and the living from entering." Isn't the Clegane sigil a three-headed hound?

Ser Creighton, I understand that you no longer want to pursue this issue (and I respect that), but I would like to commend you on picking up on this "writing pattern". I remember, during a session of a group of friends doing the re-reading of the books, someone asked the question why Benjen was broken in "Benjen, Benjen, Ben Jen". We were all surprised by this observation and spent a considerable amount of time discussing it. I still believe, there is something there...

Even if GRRM has said that he is not using any code, this does not diminish from the outstanding job you did.

Finally, I would like to thank you for opening our minds to think differently.
