[BOOK SPOILERS] Will a certain young lad that Tyrion meets be cast?

Im speaking of course of Young Griff/Aegon/Faegon. I think if he's fake and doesnt add much to the story he might be merged with another character, or be cut ll together. They could just have the Golden Company be hired by Stannis for example and retake Storm's End, or something like that. So, what do you think?

I think we'll meet "Griff" and "Young Griff" early in season 5 then the Aegon reveal will be around episode 6 or 7.

This^. My prediction is that we will get the Aegon reveal/Stone Men as the final scene in episode 6, and the Jorah return/Tyrion kidnapping in episode 8. There are many things that could be cut from Tyrion's storyline (Penny, Selhorys, the widow), but Aegon is most definitely not one of them.

I think Aegon will be in, but I'm surprised more people don't think Jon Connington won't be cut. I could see a scenario where Jorah meets up with tyrion immediately and is instructed by Varys who he has a previous relationship with from season one to escort young aegon. Hell I could even see them giving Jorah greyscale. I just don't see what Connington adds that couldn't be replaced by a character we already know who is going to be involved in tyrion's story anyway. Plus it allows them to streamline bigtime.

But Jorah isn't Varys' creature anymore, he stopped spying after Qarth. Also, he doesn't have the same devotion to Aegon that JonCon does. As for what JonCon brings that others cannot? Backstory on Robert's Rebellion, and specifically Rhaegar.

Who will have been looking after Young Griff and training him this whole time then? Illyrio? And who will lead their invasion since Jorah is obviously with Tyrion in Mereen? Who has a connection with the golden company to provide an army? Jorah doesn't. So all in all I think Connington is pretty necessary and certainly a character that can be made slightly more interesting than his book counterpart, especially considering his connection with Rhaegar.

No i think Jon Connington is definitely going to be in, he adds several things to the plot, firstly logic, explains whose been raising him for all this time, and also as all the other candidates for the role already have stuff to do in the plot thats important elsewhere, before long in your jorah suggestion he'd be caught between being in meereen and being in the stormlands, and one of those roles in the plot would have to be cut.

Also, Jon allows a way for the audience to find out more about Rhaegar, as he is defined by Rhaegar more than any other character, and he'll be introduced at a time when that will become more and more relevant to the rest of the plot.

Also I heard D & D state that they have pretty much solved the casting budget for now, hence why they have been casting bigger parts early this season, so if they have no budget issues, then i find it difficult to believe that they'd cut him

I could see the two Griffs being combined into one Griff. Aegon is about the same age as Jon. In the books it's reasonable for him to have a guardian because he's still young but everyone is aged up in the show so it wouldn't be weird if he was on his own with the halfmaester and Septa Lemore raising him.

The only way they'd completely cut him out is if his story doesn't amount to something greater in the end. If Aegon and the GC take KL from the Lannisters/Tyrells just to get burnt by Dany in the Dance 2.0, it could be possible to just cut out Aegon and have Dany be the one that ousts the Lannisters/Tyrells, but then they would have to cut the Dornish as well which would make the Red Viper's appearance in season 4 pretty useless.

Having said that, I doubt they're gonna cut Aegon.

(spoilers ahead)

I think that tyrion's KL storyline can't last all that long this season considering most other characters will have moved into their adwd storylines and I'm pretty sure the PW episode will be episode 2 so we can't spend ages just having tyrion waiting for his trial by battle in episode 8/9, also I think it would weaken his storyline if tyrion had seen Jaime again before the night so D and D will have to get him out of kl fast so he doesn't get time to do so.

for these reasons I think tyrions storyline this season will be something like this:

Episode 1: meets oberyn and has some conversations with him and other court members as well as sansa

episode 2: PW

Episode 3: reaction from various characters to the PW and them confronting tyrion in his cell as well as Preparing for the trial

Episode 4: Tyrions trial in front of a jury and his meeting with oberyn

Episode 5: Tyrion's trial by combat

Episode 6: His escape

Episode 7: Tyrion arrives in pentos and meets Illyrio eventually agreeing to journey with Griff

Episode 8: Tyrion travels through essos with Illyrio, meets young griff and the other crew members of shy maid and they set off

Episode 9; Tyrion spends a day on the Poleboat and his suspicions increase culminating in the incident with the stone men and the reveal

Episode 10: Tyrion swears allegiance to aegon and vows to take revenge on cersei and Jaime

I think this makes a good storyline, it means tyrion and the other KL storylines (cersei and Jaime) don't drag on too long and aren't stuck behind the others, but at the same time don't get too far into adwd/affc that there still is enough material for season 5 so it doesn't push into un-written WOW. It also provides a nice cliffhanger (aegon's reveal) but is still a resolution (tyrion gains a new purpose) and if need be the reveal could be the "episode 9" moment of this season.

Why would they cast a halfmaester and not Jon Connington in that scenario? It makes no sense. So some nobody halfmaester is going to lead the invasion and somehow curry favor with the Golden Company? Or would it be much more reasonable that they cut the unnecessary halfmaester and cast the guy who was Rhaegar's friend, hand of the king, tied to the Golden Company, former Lord of Griffin's Roost, and infected with Greyscale?

Aegon wasn't born 18. He was swapped out as a babe supposedly, so Illyrio and Varys aren't exactly going to entrust his growth, development, and training to some nobody with no actual tie to the kid or any real way to help him.

Because Haldon Halfmaester doesn't need character development, he can just be a guy that's there for characters to talk to. JonCon requires a history lesson. Also, the halfmaester wouldn't lead the invasion, Aegon would.

Again, I don't think they're going to do this but it would be better than completely cutting the storyline like OP suggested.

Character development is a good thing, though. If they need a guy for someone to talk to, than why not talk to someone with some relevance to the greater story and plausibility as far as Aegon's backstory goes. Also Aegon leading an invasion himself having never stepped foot in Westeros or fought in a battle would be ridiculous.

Lol, that's never going to happen.

1) Aegon hasn't been cast for season 4

2) JonCon hasn't been cast

3) There are no reports of Illyrio returning

The latest that Tyrion's journey could end is on the boat on the way to Pentos, and the most likely ending place is boarding the boat in King's Landing.

I agree. He's definitely too prominent a character to be missed out on as he might be integral to Dany (and even Jon's future), so I guess we'll see him end of season 4 but I'm guessing start of season 5.

not that we no of yet, we're still hearing casting announcements and they could be tryin to keep it secret

2) JonCon hasn't been cast

again same reason

just cos we haven't heard any reports doesn't mean he hasn't

just because we haven't heard of these things happening doesn't mean they won't, do you assume we'll know everything about next season before it airs?

these aren't really reasons against these things happening, you're just saying we haven't heard they are yet

Oh boy, yeah. I'll never understand the weird obsession some fans have with unnaturally pushing ahead the books 4 and 5 stuff. Can't we just savor the SoS material, it being the best book of the series and all?

I'd like for Tyrion's S4 storyline to end exactly where it does in the book. Book readers had to wait 11 years to find out where Varys had sent Tyrion; show watchers can certainly wait 10 months. The only places where I'm expecting to see any major foray into later books material is Theon and Asha (already happening), Breinne (seems likely), Bran (basically unavoidable), and Dany (ending her storyline with the revelation of Drogon's bad eating habits makes for a much better cliffhanger).

Arya's storyline should end where it does in the book, save Braavos for later (casting seems to confirm they're doing this anyway). The King's Landing story has such a perfect climax book-wise that going beyond that seems pointless. And Jon's storyline is problematic; if they're stalling in order to have the battle in episode 9, they'll really have to condense the election stuff in order to get him to be Lord Commander. So pushing ahead his book 5 stuff isn't even a possibility.

This, essentially. Although Theon and Asha technically are only in the flashbacks from ADwD, not in ADwD itself. Also, I don't think we are going to get that far in Daenerys, I think it will end with Jorah being sent off (and her deciding to rule). They have a lot of Jorah stuff to build up before his exile, so that is likely to extend the rest of her ASoS stuff.

Agreed with Arya, and it just doesn't make sense from a production perspective to introduce an entire new location as well as the characters there just for one episode. I think it will end with her boarding the boat OR, preferably, her on the boat seeing the Titan of Braavos in the distance.

And for the Lord Commander stuff: A lot of people over on WiC.net (myself included) are convinced that the Lord Commander election storyline will be held back to season 5. It makes sense for them to do that from a thematic perspective as well.

:agree: I'd much rather they stick with the stuff in SOS for season 4, it means the series stays more linear with the books and they're less likely to overtake grrm

but based on what they're doing with other storylines and the other reasons I put in my post I think my suggestion is far likely to be whats going to happen.
