Aegon: Real or Fake?

You had said that Aegon should have dark hair like his mother. In A Coat of Gold was responding to that. While Rhaenys did take after her mother with dark hair and coloring, Aegon looked more like his father Rhaegar.

Other people having Valyrian coloring is not proof that anyone is fake.

According to Varys, baby Aegon was swapped out with a child who had similar features, and was smuggled to safety in Essos where he was raised to be the best king every. Whether Varys was lying or telling the truth is a matter of debate. There's at least a 50% chance that Aegon is in fact Rhaegar and Elia's son.

The main criticism of Varys' story is that people think a baby swap like that wouldn't work. Well, why not? Jon managed to swap two babies who as far as we know didn't even look alike and the only people who noticed were Gilly, Val (maybe) and Aemon. If Jon could pull it off, why couldn't Varys?

How would he know that Twin will march on the Capital and the Mountain will kill Elia and her sons?? Why would he change baby before?? This are informations that Varys couldn't know before, because attack of the Capital is been sudden and Varys shouldn't have time to change the baby.

In addition, Elia would not have protected a baby who isn't her baby.

Varys plans for every contingency. He would have had a kid lined up just in case. They would have known Tywin was on the way well before he got there. Then there's the question of how long did Tywin's forces sit outside the gates while Varys and Pycelle each tried to convince Aerys of their way of thinking? How long did it take him to decide? How long until the order was relayed from the Red Keep down to the city gates? And then how long for Tywin's men get through the city to the Red Keep? How long for Lorch and Clegane to scale the walls of the Keep, which itself was clearly not open or they would have walked right in. There is actually plenty of time to orchestrate the switch.

Elia was tenderhearted. She would have protected any child. And if she'd acted like she didn't care they would have known it wasn't her son and gone looking for him. The only way to protect her own child was to try and protect that one.

I'm not sure. Elia would ever protect a baby who wasn't been own her.... then where has Varys found a baby with a silver hair? I don't think that there are more baby with the same hair...it is all strange...I don't think that Varys has had this all time to save little Aegon.

Fake... Here's another brick in the wall...

Daario had plundered himself a whole new wardrobe in Meereen, and to match it he had redyed his trident beard and curly hair a deep rich purple. It made his eyes look almost purple too, as if he were some lost Valyrian. "They arrived in the night on the Indigo Star, a trading galley out of Qarth."

Daenerys VI, Dance

The point is emphasized later in the chapter after she bannishes Jorah...

Later, when the time came for sleep, Dany took Irri into bed with her, for the first time since the ship. But even as she shuddered in release and wound her fingers through her handmaid's thick black hair, she pretended it was Drogo holding her . . . only somehow his face kept turning into Daario's. If I want Daario I need only say so. She lay with Irri's legs entangled in her own. His eyes looked almost purple today . . .

...

She was Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, khaleesi and queen, Mother of Dragons, slayer of warlocks, breaker of chains, and there was no one in the world that she could trust.

Daenerys VI, Storm

And we have this...

"Good morrow, all." The lad was shorter than Duck, but his lanky build suggested that he had not yet come into his full growth. This beardless boy could have any maiden in the Seven Kingdoms, blue hair or no. Those eyes of his would melt them. Like his sire, Young Griff had blue eyes, but where the father's eyes were pale, the son's were dark. By lamplight they turned black, and in the light of dusk they seemed purple. His eyelashes were as long as any woman's.

Tyrion IV, Dance

"Your fathers lands are beautiful, he said. His silvery hair was blowing in the wind, and his eyes were a deep purple, darker than this boys.

The Griffin Reborn, Dance
