    Unpopular Opinion: Support Daenerys

Come on, from the very beginning I said that now I see only death for Dany. But if the war ended with the bells, the absence of heirs would not be so terrible.
  4. Agreed on Isaac -- his are brown. But I'm suggesting Arya will shut the 3ER's third eye, which as a greenseer, is metaphorically green. I've seen claims that Emilia has green eyes, but they do look blue in some shots. It's not entirely clear. The last shot of Episode 4 gave us a good look at her eyes though, in which they look green, so I think we are supposed to believe they're green.

The cast's reaction to the script

Emilia Clarkes reaction is also great. Check it out on YouTube . She was asked to make a facial expression, to describe the last episode. She acted as she was puking .

Thank you GRRM for the forensic deconstruction of Dany

Robb was king not because the Northmen liked him. They made him king with the mission to rid them of the southern kings. He fucked the job by betraying his allies. So he got what he deserved. Like for Ned, you pay your errors the full price.
  7. Can you please explain which trope has been busted? Which trope in particular do you think we all fell in love with? In which stories did we get an ending that fulfilled that trope in such a way that we now fell into the trap of thinking that we would get the same ending here?

Who's hyped for Episode 6 for unintended reasons?

Very much this. The show died for me mid way through S7 when the nonsense started. I had some interest in The Bells because it was fun trying to figure out what GRRM has planned for the Dany character.

    Nikolaj on working with D&D

I always find it hilarious how much Stephen was out of touch with the show since I thought he did an amazing job with Stannis with what he was given. Especially funny since his in show right hand man was the one keeping him privy to what was going on. If D&D really didnt give him good direction it shows how little they appreciate Stannis(which was kind of evident), and makes you wonder what kind of performance Stephen could have given. I'd imagine we will see a lot of scathing actor comments after tomorrow, the fact any negativity has slipped through tells a lot.

Who's hyped for Episode 6 for unintended reasons?

Yes, as someone who was never Dany's biggest fan before, I'd far rather be a Dany apologist than a Season 8 Writing apologist. I support all the other characters as well. If someone kills Dany in the coming episode, I will support them too. But I support Dany. For Emilia Clarke's impeccable acting in this episode. For the shock Emilia experienced reading the script. For anyone who named their kids after Dany. For anyone who loved Dany before. For anyone who will love Dany in the future. This end was so undeserved for the show, and yet, Dany was magnificent flying around on her dragon. I support Dany for the special effect guys. For the costume makers. For the composer of the music. I support Dany for completing a plot point that she had to complete for the sake of plot. I support her for the original author, who I can only assume will be able to pull this off in a fulfilling, if painful way. I support Dany for any aspiring writer out there who has ever taken a crash course on writing who could have done this better. For any aspiring writer who ever read Hitchcock's theory about why suspense is more valuable than surprise.
  12. It will affect him in a deep manner I could imagine. He will be going from "not writing the books" to "definitively not writing the books. Hey look, another deal with HBO.".

I thought Australia should have done better. That was a cool song.
  14. And it looks very possible that Jon is the figure in whom the dangerous extremes of ice (the Others) and fire (Dany, dragons) are transcended/resolved, which is not just trope-y but downright cliched

You want context. Here you fucking go. Military still using dogs to attack Palestinian civilians The linked video was shot during this horrific terrorist attack. It was leaked on Israeli media. Setting military attack dogs on anyone, let alone children and elderly civilians, is unacceptable. Yet I'm sure you'll be back shortly, defending the indefensible.

    Mourning Dany

Opened the paper today to see a picture of a cute little girl...………….. whose parents called her Khaleesi. Apparently 371 baby girls have been called Khaleesi in the UK alone, with a further 26 called Daenerys.

    Final decision: Was Cersei pregnant?

This is a question I keep asking myself about the whole show... We'll see tonight/tomorrow morning.

So if this kid who is , I dunno how old, had just killed some Israelis or tried to, having a dog grab his pants is the thing that is worrying you? btw I’m not taking the soldiers side, but if you are going to as usual make wild claims and post videos with no context then you deserve to called on it

    International thread 2

You know, as I posted this I wondered how long it would be before HoI, or one of the other usual suspects, turned up and took the soldiers' side. He was probably throwing stones. But, you know, it doesn't matter what he's done. He. Is. A. Fucking. Child.

  21. Heartofice

    International thread 2

What is the context of this video? Where was it taken and what was the kid doing previously to this? Id also note that the dogs are not torturing him, one of them has gripped the kids pants. Also noting the ‘I’m not anti Semitic but..’ opening line

    Unpopular Opinion: Support Daenerys

It's just a theory that millions of people died. It might as well have been that no-one died. 50% of the troops survived the Long Night against all odds, and only a handful of named characters died in that battle. It would be unlikely but far from impossible that most of King's Landing survived, and that the destruction was simply filmed in such a way to make it seem far more cruel than it really was. After all, if the plot demands that Dany gets killed, we need an illusion of her doing as much harm as possible in order to justify her end.

  24. Except that there were many survivors of the FotFM that came back and told them everything. Marsh is a myopic xenophobe who, as @Alexis-something-Rose said, is also a moral coward.

    Unpopular Opinion: Support Daenerys

This is what I take away from this story. You will become whatever you were born to be. How about "To bring the end to one bad leader, we need another bad leader, and once they've done their job of removing each other, we can then dispose of the survivor and have our happy ending." What the show gave us was not a display of how terrible things happen at war. It was a display of how terrible things happen because a person with the madness trait established in her family, a person who once had a vision of great destruction that turns out to be a depiction of her destiny, does go mad in the end. Elizabeth I did it successfully. It can be done.

    Final decision: Was Cersei pregnant?

I'm seriously perplexed by the pregnancy plot. Up until The Bells I had thought that she had suffered a miscarriage, judging by her wine-drinking and tearful facial reaction to Euron saying he will "put a prince in her belly". However, in the end, I guess she was pregnant for real, as when faced with her death all she could think about was that she wanted for her and her baby to live. Makes no sense, but maybe it does. Maybe we are overthinking it and the "mystery" surrounding her pregnancy was never there. I guess we'll never find out, unless she rises from the rubble.

Burning a million people to the ground and support the person who did it? Yeah right. Might as well support Mao or Hitler or Bolsheviks. How about no.
