  2. Agree totally. And for some fan fic endings posts, the author admits that they came up with the idea in 10 minutes, and they're still all better than what we got from D&D. Ugh. Sigh.
  3. Brandon's family was plotting against the king. They deserved to get punished for what they were doing. Aerys had every right to kill Rickard and Brandon.
  4. The King was a pyromancer lunatic and his son was a self righteous prick that got what he deserved by Robert.

Stannis wrote the Pink Letter. Clydas changed it

Clydas doesn't have the stones to do this. Stannis burned Mance. Jon killed Janos. Clydas is not going to try his luck against two very harsh men who have fickle ideas of what justice is. Ramsay Bolton wrote that letter and just about all of it is true.

Master thread on what the Show means for the book plot

I think it will be Jon. For a limited amount of time (maybe measured in years) until he voluntarily takes the Black. After that, the Throne is disbanded, which is effectively what the Show has done in a way, making it some kind of weird elected position which may end after Bran dies in any case.
  7. I have to wonder if they didn't show Jon confessing/explaining how Dany died because they couldn't write a satisfying way to show it. How did Grey Worm not kill him like he killed kneeling Lannisters? I wondered if we didn't see Sansa's and Arya's reaction to learning Jon's parentage onscreen because there was going to be some curve ball when the audience found out. But there wasn't. Leaving important scenes to our imagination feels like more of an indictment of the writers.

Who will be Lord Commander after Jeor and Jon were killed by mutiny?

Ser Aliser is the most fit. I am hoping it's him. Bowen Marsh is not a bad sort but Aliser is an annointed knight with good battle skills.
  9. Would you say the same about Ned's dream of the tower of joy? It's the same thing. They were both under the influence of powerful drugs. Ned was injured and Daenerys was ill. It's a fever dream made more bizarre by the effects of the drugs. It's a mind trip.

How destructive should the Others Invasion be?

The invasion of the Others is supposed to cause most of the people to die. The north only has a small population. They will have to advance as far south as the capital and beyond in order to destroy most of the population. King's Landing, Casterly Rock, Highgarden, and let us hop the Vale are not safe from them. They will destroy White Harbor and Winterfell to get south. I would not quote the show. The show was run by people who had irrational fondness for the Starks and they chose to avoid destruction of Winterfell. I don't watch the show but I saw enough reviews on Youtube to see what they did on the show. I doubt it's accurate.

How would you have ended it?

Why do so many people ship Jon & Sansa? To me it's worse (much worse) than Jon & Daenerys. They grew up as siblings - doesn't it seem pretty disgusting to fall in love with or marry someone who grew up with you as a sibling? - sorry not to derail the thread, I don't have an ending, I was just reading the thread & was honestly shocked by the amount of people that would want Jon & Sansa together. To me that's just like Jaime & Cersei...

    Watch, Watched, Watching: Getting Sneaky

Caught Overlord and Bad Times at the El Royale on a flight yesterday. Loved both. Wyatt Russell is the generic white guy action hero that Jai Courtney, Taylor Kitsch, Sam Worthington, et al should all be sacrificed at the altar of.

    Your biggest what if?

What if Balon had accepted Robb's offer and invaded the Westerlands What if Ned sends Loras together with Beric What if Robert survives the boar What if Stannis had telled Robert instead of Jon Arryn What if the Purple Wedding happens before the Red Wedding What if Tyrion and Bronn are killed in the Vale by the mountain clan

How destructive should the Others Invasion be?

I think GRRM is going for near total destruction from the hints we get. There already are legends of the Long Night that nearly destroyed everything. There's a Valyrian prophesy hinting "doom of man" would come from the West. Then there's the Dothraki saying that "ghost grass" would one day cover all of earth destroying everything. So we are looking at utter complete devastation for Westeros and Essos. On top of all that, there's war, famine, and disease plaguing people in Westeros and Essos. Westeros is really effed considering the War of the Five Kings have destroyed most of the farmland and crops. The Pale Mare from Essos may spread there too. It's possible that Westeros might be completely doomed and everyone would have to flee to Essos (where winter might be less severe because of the climate there?) I think this is an indication that WW would come as far south as the Riverlands. Dany sees the Lannister army clad in ice, so they were possibly wights she was burning? Her dreams are figurative and literal. I think this is a solid hint that WW will come far south. The people in the North would have to flee south not just because of WW, but because of food shortages as well.

UK Politics: The End of May

There will also be more pandas in Scotland than Tory or Labour MEPs. The Tories are also behind both Brexit and Lib Dems in Theresa May's constituency while Labour are behind the Lib Dems in Corbyn's constituency. Is this the first time the Lib Dems have ever come first in London in an election?

[Poll] How would you rate episode 806?

As far as I know only D&D controlled the script, obviously nobody else is to blame except perhaps martin. I can respect the actors performances along with the rest of the crew while viewing the season itself as an insult towards the viewers.
  25. Don't you think that Lord Commander became more dangerous position than Prince of Pentos? Who guarantees (after Stannis's death) that soldiers surrounded by Others' and winter threat will not try the third mutiny?

    Anything foreshadowing KL getting burned?

A lot of people have speculated that this means something Mel or another shadowbinder brings to life to destroy something, not a real dragon. It's specifically shadow fire, so highly likely this is something related to shadow magic. not the fire magic of Dany's dragons. Right, he could foreshadow the event in TWOW with only a book left to go, like CoTK foreshadowing at least 2 major events that happened in ASOS, which was supposed to be the final book. But for a huge event like this, GRRM might have mentioned in ADWD at least in my opinion. That's why I wondered if I've missed something. I'm not sure if the Mad King wanting to do something should be taken as foreshadowing. At that moment he was a pyromaniac and didn't want Robert to gain anything. I always thought his obsession with fire may have stemmed from prophetic visions of things burning, possibly when winter comes, or things that used to burn, as during the Doom. In any case, I thought if GRRM had plans for Dany to do this, then it would have been in her HotU visions for sure. Or someone else, like Bran or the Ghost of High Heart may have commented on it.
