Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

Well I'm a woman so I would hardly intend to be sexist toward women but implying that only men ever need humbled is what is sexist IMO. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean she doesn't need humbled. Regardless of who made the match or if Sansa would have been the same had it been a knight you said she wasn't bitter, I contended she needn't be bitter to be humbled, but that she was in fact bitter when her potential station was being lowered. Cersei did need humbled. It didn't help much in her case but she deserved to be humbled none the less. Just because the manner in which she was treated was atrocious doesn't mean she didn't need humbled. She does cling to her pride & her station though. She looks down on people, her own family even. (Arya for not being a lady, Jon for being a bastard) she is rude & condescending with her septa, etc.

Sorry to hear that happened. Also, I see you are concerned with the Chilean military shooting at the Chilean people and I changed subject on you. Sorry.

Canadian Politics: Revenge of the small minds

While that's arguably true of the NDP/Liberals/Greens, which has always been somewhat true and therefore rather infuriating, there's a wide gulf between them and the Conservatives.
  7. I actually get the sense (though admit I'm a newcomer!) that there is not much separating the parties in this election. Apart from perhaps climate change, voters have to look pretty carefully at the major parties to spot the difference.

    An Evil Name

Could Bael's son be Jon Snow, later legitimized to Jon Stark? Jon Snow I killing Bael, their hero, would be evil in the wildlings' book. Ygritte might have wanted to leave out that part. If not, I think it may just be authorial foreshadowing for Jon being a danger to Ygritte and perhaps every woman that loves him.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

Well, I have answered that before in a reply to you. But I feel like you might not even be genuinely interested in my answer. Also wrote before that I didn't like him the first time I read Clash and Storm, I thought he was a great villain in Game, and he is not among my favorite characters. I came to pay more attention to him, because he appears so often in Sansa's chapters (she's my favorite) and because of all the symbolism going on there. That's all. I don't ship them. I'm not in love with him. Thinking something will happen is different from wanting something to happen. But I also don't look down on ppl, who ship them or her and Jon or whoever.. I'm on that bandwagon, because the signs point in that direction, if the signs change I'll jump on another. I don't have specific demands on how the series is suppose to end.

'Watchmen' TV Series From Damon Lindelof in the Works at HBO

Intriguing so far. I'll keep watching, but wasn't blown away by the premiere. Usually the case with Lindelof's shows. Regina King is fantastic.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

Duh, because Dontos is already dead and Sandor is still alive lol. As for "bad boys," well once again I think GRRM was being cheeky in saying he doesn't understand the appeal of characters like Jaime, Sandor, Theon, etc. They were clearly written to be sympathized with to some extent. He himself says that Daemon is his favourite Targ, and he can easily be lumped in with those guys in terms of moral unscrupulousness. Daemon is also established in-universe to be a womanizer so I think he understands the appeal of such men to (some) women perfectly fine. As for Darkstar, well he doesn't get half the attention because he is just not written as well.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

Sansa thinks of Dontos as her protector; yet no one ships them. Why? Is it because Sandor is just a bad boy with a sad backstory? Darkstar almost kills a child (the Hound actually does) and yet Darkstar doesnt get half the attention as Sandor, even though Arianne says, she's learned her lesson about those types of guys. GRRM also asked why women like bad boys like Sandor on his blog...maybe you could inform him on what the appeal is, since he doesn't know himself? Maribald's speech is the most honest and poignant part of AFFC, and he starts by using the Hound as an example. Oh yes, I think he reads him like a fucking book.

Wow, I never noticed that. Vol. 18

Not from the boks or anything, but I've just learned that Attila was found dead in his bed after his wedding, having choked and with blood coming from his nose. Since it's so similar to Joffrey's case, thought I might share.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

Yeah, Meribald had no idea who the Hound is. Broken man was GRRM making a point about the nature of war. He said recently that it was the thing he was most proud of writing, which I don't think he would say if it was just a monologue about a specific character.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

He would do anything for Arya. He's already died for her in canon. But is it established that he would do "anything" for Sansa? Or for that matter, Bran? He clearly loves Arya more than his other siblings and IIRC he even states that outright. But when Stannis informs him that Sansa has married Tyrion, he doesn't have much of a reaction. He thinks more about how he's surprised that Tyrion killed his father, which implies he still has positive feelings about Tyrion, despite him knowing that he married his sister and in all likelihood raped her as well (because such a marriage couldn't be consensual). I also fail to see the "Jonsa" foreshadowing. Also, Dany the female Stalin?? WTF.
  19. Rose of Red Lake

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

I think she needed to SEE better, that's quite different than clinging to pride or her station. I think she was clinging to romance. She would have had the same reaction if Joffrey was a knight because then she could be a "Lady" instead of a queen; whatever song suits her fantasy at the moment seems to be her goal, and Ned is the one who arranged the damn match. And saying women in the story need to be humbled triggers a sexist tone. People said that for years about Cersei and look what they got: having to cheer for the religious nutcases who wanted to "humble" her? Yikes.
  20. Not sure how much you watched! I know the first season put a lot of people off, but it is indeed one of the best tv shows in the last two decades. I can understand people shying away after the first season though. But S2 & S3 are home runs. Edit: To me, Lindelof has brought a lot of credit aafter The Leftovers, especially season 2. Also, here's a primer for everyone who has *not* read the comics! I'm surprised tbh, based on this forum, there are more of you than I realized. I would certainly read it as there are already a bunch of nods to the comics. As an aside, I'm really looking forward to reading some of the reviews of this work, especially from people of colour. I started from this one, which was insightful & gave a little context about Tulsa ( which helps someone like me who isn't an American)

    Watch, Watched, Watching: Hunting Minds

I think it was wise to end it when it did. I think 3 and 4 were the better seasons at least. It also had some good characters, it's just a shame that Jesse and Tulip were the focus and least interesting. Starr and Cassidy were great at times though and there were some really imaginative additions to the original comic

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

And I'm not saying she is in love with the sandor yet. I'm thinking it will happen, because of the marriage symbolism. And why do you reckon, she keeps his cloak in her cedar chest, which was used by women in preparation for marriage? why do you thinks she keeps it at all? She sure still thinks about Sandor a lot. He appears in all of her 22 chapters except for 3, more than any other character. While Jon...

A New Husband for the Lady Donella Hornwood

Pretty sure she was hinting that she wanted to remarry Rodrik. Also Beren Tallhart would have been a better choice to be the Hornwood heir. He's got Hornwood blood, very close ties to Torrhen's Square which would help deter hostile action against Hornwood and Donella herself would be more willing to see her husbands lands go to his nephew than his bastard son, so the transition of power would have been a lot smoother.

Is the hound Sansa's 'new direwolf'?

when I wrote that. I wasn't referring to the Sandor thing. Just making an overly simplified example, what could be romantic foreshadowing for Jon and Sansa. I wasn't more creative- sorry. I was just writing, that Jon executing Janos, after Sansa wished for it, just doesn't foreshadow a romantic future for them. If there was some marriage/ romance symbolism- fine. But why would any parallels or connections between Sansa and Jon, that are not explicitly romantic hint at anything more than a sibling relationship? I just don't get it! My brother is also a hero for me.
