    DCEU: Suicidal Insanity

Answer C: King, or "C.King" because the latter through me off thinking it would be A.King Wonder Woman still wins in terms of being the most iconic of the DC characters currently. I don't think Shazam is a character their shared universe can revolve around (like Iron Man) and I'm not sure he'd work that well in the justice League given his comedy leanings. It does feel like the dc movies are getting back on track now that they've freed themselves from the confines of snyder style and making films that fit the characters. I still think Man of steel (i know, sacrilege but I thought it worked - i judt didn't want every DC film to have the same dour tone), Wonder Woman and Shazam have been their only films where I've been entertained and happy with as solid/good films.

By Everam’s will; a re-read of the Demon cycle:

This is one the main problems. The premiss of the first book is brilliant (demons cannot be fought, only be warded) and the first options for fighting them devised by Arlen (and in the second book in that pseudo-muslim city) are well thought out and still stress the danger and skill involved. But already within the second book, demons become cannon-fodder. I stopped after that second one. Then there's the rape including incest, sodomizing small boys for educational purposes and the ridiculous "saving myself for the raping day" storyline of that herb girl but worst of all is that the style devolves into something like a high school RPG script with people in one defense battle of a village referring to the wood demons (that were spine-chilling and invincible foes until yesterday) as "woodies". Like pets or the members of another HS football team "Go Woodies!"

    Order of deaths to come.

They saved Jorah from greyscale. He won't die... I'm thinking also of Robin. The Nest must be one of nice havens if the dragon wright is dead. Also there is Edmure left. So many loose ends... How will they tie everything together?

What is the role of Gendry?

How do you come to that conclusion?! You misunderstood completely how they depicted Arya . She felt something for Lady Crane and didn't want to kill her. She is human. No, because it's not. These are extreme times. She is an unusally well-trained assassine. Even a y young girl she had to kill and got used to it (boy when fleeing out of the Keep, soldier boasting about Red Wedding, bad man with heart stab, Polliver). Of course this made her somewhat callous to murder. Killing and torturing was all around her (Harrenhal). Mother and father died cruelly. What do you expect? But to deduce that a girl experiencing violence and having to kill herself is not capable of love... that is just utter nonsense. Would you say the same to current refugees from war zones? Women being raped in Kosovo, escaping by killing their torturers? Child soldiers from Syria or Afrika? Really? Even most professional murderers are capable of love and as surprising as it may be for you have families, wifes, children they love. Your world is much to black-and-white. Of course it is disgusting. As I told you, this relates to a legend about how to react to violated guest right.

Yeah, very hard not to get those lyrics out of my head whenever i hear the themetune now. In an attempt to bring things back to star wars it seems they have a composer who's worked on all of ryan coogler's films although i have trouble distinguishing score vs soundtrack in his films because they all intertwine. I think guven the setting of the mandalorian it makes a lot idlf sense to use someone different as the score can really help distinguish the show from being different. I hope they keep the same style for clone wars though

My hope for AryaWaif holds on

There are several options: The Hound, Jamie, Tyrion, Arya, Euron... I still think about Valonqar, the little brother.
  8. Actually Dragons are fire and The Others are ice. Jon, Dany, Sansa, etc represent the mankind who destroy everything. That`s why the staredown between Jon and Night king, Drogon. They were forshadowing the betrayal. Drogon start to realise Jon represent the end of magic same as The Others knows it. But, Night king wants to be set free, he wants revenge. After all he was human turned by COTH&Human. Drogon wants to live, Night King wants to die (fire consume, ice preserve). I dont see a marriage between Jon and Sansa. There is no point. Jon is already the heir of Stark throne, and heir of Tagaryan throne. He dosen`t need an union with Sansa or Danny.

    DCEU: Suicidal Insanity

Fun Fact We had a DC related question in Final Jeopardy today. I can't recall the exact wording, but basically the question was. "Which Justice League hero would sometimes use the alias 'C. King' "? Answer Sadly, only 1 of the 3 contestants got it correct. One said Superman and the other said Batman.

[mod] can we take the comparison of scores to a comparison of scores thread? The last two pages of this Star Wars thread have barely discussed Star Wars. Thanks. [/mod]
  13. I think also characterizing the Russian investigation as 'silliness' when you have the president's son taking meetings with Russian operatives, and the campaign chairman sharing months of internal polling data with people closely associated with Russian intelligence services, is stretching things. Mueller may not have been able to get enough evidence to recommend prosecution, but it sure looks shady as fuck, and very much worth investigating.

    the honeyed locusts...

What I find the most compelling theory regarding the whole incident suggests that the Shavepate was behind it with the goal of disrupting the peace and overthrowing Hizdar. As Dany's death is not necessary for either of those goals and would jeopardise his own position in many ways, it makes sense that the poison was not meant to kill. The fact that Belwas ate a whole bowl and managed to survive supports that.

Jon's dilemma: What would Ned do?

Ned would have told Jon to protect his people in the North. In this case it may mean that he needs to persuade Dany to give up the crown and tell/ask her people to back Jon as King. Some houses are not joining them in the war because Jon is not in charge now. Maybe getting them together is important. Dragons don't really like staying in North. This makes Dany uncomfortable.

US Politics: It’s Not A Crime If Your Feelings Got Hurt

From the "that didnt take long" department- I am amazed that AG Barr has so swiftly surpassed Devin Nunes as the number one person that I would enjoy seeing share Manaforts cell.

    Samwell Tarly stole the spotlight.

Aerys saw and heard things that weren't there, suggesting he was scizophrenic as well as paranoid. it's unclear whether Daenerys (in the books) has inherited her father's mental illness. Her visions of Qaithe may or may not be real, and her most recent chapter shows her hallucinating - but that could be the result of sunstroke and eating poisonous berries. i don't think Daenerys in the series suffers from mental illness.

Bad shows and movies you enjoy watching.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women. Nearly all of Schwarzenegger '80s movie are enjoyable. I think The Terminator that is a truely great Classic. Predator I think is in good based on Premise and execution. Conan the Barbarian just does not make it over the line for me.

Star Wars Thread: Don't Get Cocky

As a way-too-old fan of South Park, I'm very curious how that happened? Their "trilogy" criticizing Martin was..not very biting. I can't think of anything else they've directly done towards GoT. Really? The movies that literally start with Huey Lewis, the News, and "It's Hip to be Square?" [ETA: Sorry, was way off there. It wasn't Hip to be Square at the beginning, it was Power of Love. Huge difference, I know.] That's memorable, yes, but there is a negative there, and you just identified it.
  24. Yes, I don't think they are set-up for romance. It might happen nonetheless, but I don't see it coming. Where are the glances, the smiles, any flirting or any comments by third persons? They used all these movie tricks to show us the romantic development with Jon and Daenerys, back then with Jon and Ygritte. They don't show us any of it with Sansa towards Jon. Yes, some anooyment about bending his knee, losing his crown, thinking with his dick. I see that. Maybe even some jealousy regarding the prettier woman, but romantic interest? No, I can honestly say, I would be surprised and the directors would suck if they do that without any clear indicators up front. I see it more as an power triangle. At least at the moment. Yes, of course we can have different impressions of the same scene. But, for example, Jon literally saying "now you ruined horsed for me" is obviously supposed to mean he is enthusiastic about dragon riding. Don't you agree? Is this really about impressions and opinions? Shouldn't we take the dialogue serious? And Arya is clearly talking about family, not preferring Sansa. She just defends Sansa. She actually tells Jon that he is family, too. They set-up for Jon having to decide between Targaryen and Stark, to be at least drawn between the two sides.

Not for me. It's good, but it really doesn't stick in my mind the way something like Indiana Jones does, even though I like BTTF a lot more and have seen it more times - I don't think I've seen a Jones film in more than two decades.
