  1. Past hour
  2. Still funny now, IMO. But these Deadpool movies really do nothing for me, and this seems no different, even with Jackman as Wolverine wearing the original costume.
  3. The Liefeld joke indicates some element of time travel, since it would last have been funny twenty years ago.
  4. I don't think I have ever heard The Empire Strikes Back described as light hearted. Apparently I missed the humor in Luke's father cutting off his hand or Han being frozen alive. Han gutting a creature and stuffing Luke in it definitely was a hoot and family friendly! Most of us old people (I was 5 when I saw Star Wars at a drive in theatre on laying on top of a van) who grew up on The original trilogy disliked the prequels specifically because they were too light hearted and pandered to kids. Yes there were serious elements sprinkled in but that's all. Rogue One was the only movie made since the originals that I truly enjoyed and will happily rewatch.
  5. Today
  6. Well I think that’s a good ending to the series and true to the books. Still felt they could have done Mariko and John better but the show ended on a high note.
  7. Star Wars TV programs since Disney bought Lucasfilm that are kid-friendly: The Clone Wars (return), Rebels, Resistance, The Bad Batch, Visions, Tales, Young Jedi Adventures, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wab Kenobi, Ahsoka, the forthcoming The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, Jedi Temple Challenge Star Wars TV programs since Disney bought Lucasfilm that are not kid-friendly: Andor. Let the adults have one serious dramatic TV show. Some of us even like (some of) the other stuff.
  8. Yeah and they want to pump them out in 4 year cycles. Kinda makes you wonder about EAs shitty mismanagement with BioWare. And Bethesda also taking waay too long for games of a similiar scope. Ever since Fallout 4 their timelines have been sloppy.
  9. Four offices/teams across Europe and North America and over 250 staff members? With enough smart project management and good communcation tools, I can see how it'd be feasible to manage two projects and organise production pipelines and project milestones.
  10. In my younger, wilder days, I occasionally went to bed at normal time after a few days of a bender and slept until 1800-2000 the next day. That fucks you up for days.
  11. I'm still tickling myself with an idea I had in another thread - that in the prologue to TWOW, Sybell Spicer (Maggie the Frog's granddaughter) prophesies to Jamie that he will be killed by his sister. Won't their meeting up be interesting!
  12. Funny you should say that. I'm currently writing a novel where a megastorm is the inciting incident to the whole narrative. Even funnier is you should mention Hamish Macbeth. The TV show was one of my favourites ever. My novel is coincidentally set somewhere in the vicinity of Lochdubh. When I have free time and nothing better to read, I read a few chapters of the books. M C Beaton astonishes me - one of the worst writers I've ever encountered whilst still managing to be entertaining!
  13. Apparently it’s gonna be a new IP unrelated to Divinity. I’m just impressed they’re able to develop 2 huge games at once.
  14. Some of you might remember that about a year ago I had mentioned seeing an episode of Digging for Britain where a team goes off to look at a bunch of sunken ships, but I couldn’t recall the date of the maritime disaster. They talked about a large fleet of slave trading ships sailing down to Africa where they went to trade and pick up slaves, but got delayed, then sailed across to the US colonies to drop off the slaves and to pick up trade goods, got seriously delayed again, and so instead of making the crossing back in September they hit the rough storms of November and a huge number sank. It was very frustrating to troll through various maritime topics on Wikipedia but not be able to figure out the event. Well, I suspect I found the event by accident. I’ve been listening to the complete set of Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries and the author regularly refers to some of the wild weather of the highlands, at one point saying “like the great storm of 1703”. Out of curiosity I looked it up and I bet that was the Digging for Britain storm that sank all those ships. The storm is suspected to have been a mere, and I use mere advisedly, Category 2 hurricane that hit Great Britain in November with terrible loss of life and caused enormous damage. Ships sank all over the coast, with thousands of sailors losing their lives. An estimated 8,000 to 15,000 people died, but some say the number could have been as high as 30,000. And typical storm damage was done, but in a country unprepared for hurricanes. According to Wikipedia in London alone 2,000 chimneys collapsed, killing many people. The bishop and his wife in Wells died when the chimney collapsed on them while in bed. Queen Anne had to shelter in the basement of St. Jame’s palace because of structural damage done to the roof and chimneys. 4,000 oak trees came down in the New Forest alone, and thousands of people drowned in parts of the country that are prone to flooding. One ship was found 15 miles inland. Funny thing is, I’ve read a lot of English novels over the years and I don’t think I’ve ever read a novel where this storm played a role in the plot. You’d think someone would have written a novel where such a huge disaster was at the very least mentioned in passing.
  15. Any takers for the other game's name? I'm going with....Divinity: Beyond Sin. What's beyond sin? Wouldn't *you* like to know?!
  16. Jaime killing his twin sister would be a grim end for both of them.
  17. Rough way for the Sixers and Lakers to lose. That's got to hurt more than a blowout.
  18. No-one has said that joyful Star War stories should stop. The only one trying to stop anyone enjoying anything here is you.
  19. Assuming they still exist. I guess things haven't got so bad that there are not reliable purveyors of objective information about world political events. But the number of such institutions seems to be a lot less than it used to. Either that or the biases and ideological influences were always there but are more obvious now.
  20. Same here. I think part of the issue is that he was highly internalised in the book and it’s difficult to translate that to a visual media which means a lot of his character development that happens internally is missed out. They should’ve taken the dune route and done visions/flashbacks or dialogue debates between him and other characters. That moment in the book when he realises how unhygienic and shitty his life in England was completely brushed over. Was quite disappointed with the pigeon cooking scene. And yeah I never got the feeling Mariko and he are in love other than a random fling based on physical attraction. She seems irritated with him most of the time.
  21. Well we know there won’t be any cocaine in it.
  22. I’ve noticed on this forum there is a general preference for Grimdark and Very Serious Works of Art over anything that can be construed as being light hearted or child like , and that’s a shame. Star Wars, like Superman was ultimately made to appeal to everyone but children specifically, and shows like Andor or movies like Rogue One which try to turn it into a gritty, war drama or game of thrones esque politics or morality just missed the tone of the true spirit of SW horribly IMO. Part of the reason is you guys grew up on the OG as kids whose light hearted tone was easier to swallow as children but as cynical adults your preference has naturally drifted to darker stuff. Nothing wrong with that but please stop trying to change the core of SW for the kids of this generation so they can enjoy the same thing you guys did in the 70s and I did in the early 2000s. Andor is depressing, boring and joyless. The protagonist is a forgettable, miserable nothingburger. For all the issues with the ST, I definitely prefer the force awakens over Andor any day.Ya it’s derivative but atleast it captured the spirit and tone of SW right. Unlike the showrunner of Andor who just wanted to make a dystopian thriller and projected his baggage on the SW IP. It would be just as wrong if someone was to take the Dune or Shogun IP and insert random fart jokes or Joss Whedonesque quips in it to make it ‘lighter’. That would be equally wrong. Just make ur own IP at that point. Ive already acknowledged my issues with CP2077 is not that it isn’t true to its genre and themes. It does , Infact a bit too well, but rather that the ending wasnt personally satisfying for me. But that one is all on me I admit. It’s a great game.
  23. Universities totally have never responded heavy handed to anti war protests before. Totally can't back fire.
  24. @karaddin That's fine. I'm about ready to hit the sack now, anyway.
  25. I'll do my best to give a response then, but it will take a while.
