I disagree. One is a vow. Swearing fealty is very serious and is supposed to be for keeps, unless the one ruling does something horrible. Kind of like marriage vows. If you divorce your spouse because someone better comes along, you have dishonored your vows, but if you divorce them because they were unfaithful, it is justified.

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

I liked Sam's points for serendipity reasons. I'm writing a draft for article that involves the war with the Children and the Pact and the Long Night for the past three days and a part of it was the realisation that a weirwood tree equals the library of Alexandria if you know that the Children's spirit, mermories go into the tree when they die, and thus a whole grove are hundreds of such libraries, and all of Westerosi weirwoods basically all the libraries, internet and data-servers. To hear Sam talk about the memories of people in such a way was "huh!" for me, but I do agree that this was long-winded and out of place at the war council.

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

She didn't look like she really enjoyed it, just had one more line wiped out of her bucket list. Anyway, this must be the only show on tv where there are no gay relationships introduced. Anyone who wished for Stark reunion before the fight, that would have been lame. They've all grown to their individual roles and have their own job to do. This underlines how strong their bond really is. This said, I must be in the wrong thread.

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

Of course he did. Dragonglass on Dragonstone. But he knew that already so that was pointless. And then R+L marriage, even though Gilly found that. The whole reason Sam went there was to find out stuff about the WW but instead it's all about Jon. Just like Bran has been completely useless and all his visions and Branposition has been ALL ABOUT JON. And I still don't get D&D's focus on Jon's freaking parentage when the Targs were deposed and have no claim on the damn throne anyway. We should have seen Bran tracking the army's movement, preventing Ned Umber from going to Last Hearth, sending a raven or whatever (via skinchanging if needed) to Last Hearth and tell them to get the hell out. We should have seen him working on a way to stop the NK. Instead he sits in his freaking chair creepily staring at people, focusing on the parentage reveal and occasionally catching people up on the plot.

Best part of the show. That huge smile on her face was beautiful and I think she even teared up a little just before that. Did we ever see her smile in the show before? I can't remember her ever smiling. LOL!! I loved the way Sansa embraced him. But what was that look on Dany's face? I wasn't sure what to make of that. Theon and Yara had already sworn fealty to her so she shouldn't have a problem with being there.. Jon can't tell anyone else before he tells Dany and they work things out. It wouldn't be right.

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

This episode was so void of any plot or development, it is even hard to find things to criticize: 1) As many have already mentioned: Interrupt important dialogues with incoming messengers 2) Tormund behavior to Brienne is not even fun anymore. 3) Podrick singing. I immediately watched a video with Pippin at Minas Tirith afterwards to compensate for this. 4) A female cold psycho killing machine is not a good receipt for an emotional sex scene 5) Contemporary ethnical problems imposed on a medieval fantasy world Good things: The knighting scene was decent at least Tyrion & Podrick interaction How do you know there is an afterwards?

    Dany Fleeing After Jon Reveal

Too add to that, had Robert not thought the remaining Targaryans had any claim to the throne, why was he so obsessed with killing them all? Why did Ned think he had to keep Jon's true parents a secret?

This. Yes, I feel this too. She found out this situation isn't the worst case scenario. She laughed, actually laughed when Dany said "Who manipulated whom?" She was the stand-out character for me this episode. By far.

    Dany Fleeing After Jon Reveal

Robert did take it by force, but you may have noticed he had the backing of many great houses, who had lost faith in the Mad King. They might have backed Rhaegar, but he disappeared then fell to Robert's hammer. If you think Danny's claim is pure force, you haven't been paying attention. It's her dragons, unsullied, Dothraki, and the unfitness of Cersei. But it's also the fact that she's a Targaryen. Without that, she'd be a foreign invader, less likely to have forged alliances with the Greyjoys, Tyrells, Sand Bitches, and Snow/Starks. After meeting the Army of the Dead, Danny presumably won't have much of an army left. Maybe fewer dragons. Then she has the Golden Company to deal with. She lost her chance to claim the throne by steamroller.

Discussing Sansa XXXV: Queens of Ice and Fire

Sansa and Dany's conversation brought me major Margeary and Cersei vibes. It was not a friendly conversation, despite all their twittering and hand-holding. The vibe they ended with is the true vibe. Sansa manipulating Dany almost the whole conversation. Notice how she subtly got Dany to admit that she came North to fight "Jon's war" alongside him and that she will never let the North be independent. ding ding ding - Aside from that, can we please discuss how beautiful Theon and Sansa's scenes were? I wish we got some Stark sibling scenes, but I guess it's a good sign. If they don't get a goodbye that's probably because they all survive the battle. Sansa was brilliant throughout this episode and I just loved her. Her fashion, her words, the way she carried herself.

    R+L=J v.166

That is very true. Yet we are at the same fudamental problem again. Something associated with Lyanna is used to show that Lyanna is at the tower of joy. It it the same old circle theory all over again: Lyanna is at the tower of joy, because more than 1 person is present when Lyanna dies. There is still nothing that points at Lyanna at the tower of joy. I understand the thought process and it may very well be made true by GRRM. But from a conceptual point oif view, there is no proove that zebras are running away from the tower, because the zoo mayhave never been in the tower. Even if the zookeeper is also the towerkeeper. That's the reason why I find it so unbelievable hard to discuss anything regarding RLJ. There is an assumption and every argument is turned around to show the assumption, even if it does not work. Lyanna may or may not have been in the tower. But then arguing that Lyanna/the zebras can't be at Starfall, because she was at the tower, because someone watched the zoo - and towerkeeper leaving the tower is .... very flawed. Watching the zookeeper leaving the tower does not conclude he has zebras with him and it also does not conclude there are zebras at the tower just because another statement tells us that the zookeeper has been seen with zebras. Unless there is a witness watching the zookeeper leaving the tower with zebras or a witness watching zebras within the tower, there is no conclusion that leads to "zebras can't be in the zoo, because they are in the tower".

No, it wouldn't be dishonorable. New information has come to light. If Jon were to find out tomorrow that Jaime pushed Bran out the window, it wouldn't be dishonorable to revoke the welcome he extended today. Besides, the obvious answer would be to propose marriage, if the incest thing doesn't freak them out. Then Jon can say they'll rule together. And he'll mean it, with those doe eyes of his.

[Poll] How would you rate episode 802?

I know only the father's name counts, but Jon is still half Stark! And I'm sure he doesn't suddenly feel like a Targ and not a Stark. He was raised that way and I think it will always be with him in a prominent way.

Yeah, I threw an 8 down originally, but the more I've thought about it...

    Names for new Targaryens

Did Lyanna or Ned bother to give him one? If I had to I would go for Viserys, Valarr or Visenys. Jon was supposed to be a Visenya and this would be sort of a "loving the name John, having a girl, naming it Joanna" scenario. I don't feel we will get another "common-named" Targaryen. Dany would name her child Rhaella in honor of her mother. For Arianna don't know: I could imagine Daenerys for the first Targ-Martell wedding but when a second DoD happens a very bad choice. Maybe Rhaenys for Eggs killed sister. I think it would be really akward to name another child after Rhaegar after what happened to the first namesake. Also I could totally see Daenarys naming the child after the father even though Jon won't be happy with that. What about Aemon? If everybody would honor their sires we would have at least Aegon the twelfth. This would be awesome. My second choices would be: Baelor to please the High Septon Jahaerys fitting in the DoD theme Daeron the first targaryen Martell-Groom

Well, at least Gendry is off Dany's hit list for the time being.

    Dany Fleeing After Jon Reveal

Danny rightfully said he would have a better claim than she if he really were who he says he is. And we know he can prove it, if not through Bran and Sam then through Howland Reed. He is the Mad King's heir.
