[Poll] How would you rate episode 802?

9 but leaning towards a solid 9.5 I thought this was a great episode that had a lot of immediate impact while also steadily building tension for the Battle throughout.

Kingslayer - Jaime kills the Night King

Love the idea of the prosthetic hand somehow being useful. The most traumatizing thing for a warrior, losing his sword hand, becomes a saving grace. If it doesn't save everyone, per the OP, maybe just Brienne? I have an awful feeling she will die in the battle based on show tonight.

Because he has a specific fear of fire (wonder why?). And he lead several sorties before breaking. Please, let's not be a chicken hawk here.

[Poll] How would you rate episode 802?

7/10. if the season was ten episodes long I'd probably give it an eighth, do the Starks all hate each other? they don't seem to enjoy each other's company at least.

Also Bran indeed said to Jaime "the things I do for love". His tone was very unsettling. While ago there was a theory that BR orchestrated the events leading to Bran's defenestration.

    Order of deaths to come.

I think the death Wighting of the other child lord last week was a cue to tell us Lyanna Mormont is at risk which is of course the clearest sign that she is safe.

He also deserted during that battle.

Well, whatever your opinion, he was put in charge of troops at the Blackwacker. I don't think that would have been surprising for somebody with this rank and fighting ability and experience. He may not be the nicest guy in the world, but he knows what the he is doing. He sure has a hell lot more experience than Judge Dredd of Tarth.

    Order of deaths to come.

As far as surviving the next episode goes, I think it fairly clear that Arya, the Hound and Varys will have business with Cersei in the plot to take out Cersei. Since Arya survives, I think Gendry dies in the next episode. Also Pod, Ser Jorah, Grey Worm. Next episode could well be the exit for Jamie. His redemption arc is complete. That leaves us with three more episodes. Can we really be done with the night's king so soon? We might lose Bran next episode. Mel will have to return with the golden company. I think we will see Cersei, Mel, Varys, Euron and both Cleganes die in the last episode. For survivors, I see Jon, Sansa, Arya, Brienne, Tyrion.

[Poll] How would you rate episode 802?

I think that voices exactly how I feel, though I rated the episode a bit more highly than you did. All the stuff I wanted to see was cut short, and all the stuff I didn't care about was stretched out.

Well so far Dunk has been mentioned only once I think, so it was probably a very subtle hint. Still interesting to see Lady Rohanne''s greatgrandson knighting Brienne. She also notes that the proof of Jon's ancestry cames from his brother and his bff. Wonder if this will be a prelude to a dance of the dragons. Besides Sansa made it clear that the North wants to be indepedent.

Haha! I found the Theon/Sansa reunion bizarre. Yes I realize he saved her from Ramsey, but he still reeked (ha) a lot of havoc on house Stark. Sansa does not have a good track record making friends.

I know what you mean on the convos the last two episodes, it always seems like it could be promising, but it could also be so much more. That is what drives me crazy. Every time I think a bit more time would help, I remember the type of crap that'd we'd probably get anyway.

Dany said it can't be true and asked him who told him. He says Bran and Sam. She thinks it's really convenient that his brother and best friend would tell him that, but Jon assures her it's true. She tells him, he's the last male Targaryen heir, and that he has a claim to the Iron Throne. Jon looks at her without saying anything, and the horns blow. They head out and they find Tyrion. Jon nods at her, and they walk away. Final scene is the white walkers outside Winterfell.
  18. Lord Varys

    [Spoilers] E802 Discussion

This is all fake tension again. No real character will give a crap about any of that in any sane setting. The entire 'characterization' of Emilia is nonsensical here. What did Dany want to do in the first season of this show? She wanted to GO HOME! She had no intention to become Drogo's wife to help Viserys to get his throne, did she? So since when is Emilia only about that stupid chair? They don't give a damn about their own nonsense anymore.

The line I miss hearing from Jon back to Dany when she throws at him that he learned this from his brother and his best friend was: “He’s my cousin not my brother, Auntie.”

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

I wish they had included some of the Bran/Tyrion conversation. If anyone is going to have the intellect to actually understand what Bran went through, it's going to be Tyrion. I hate that they set it up and then just cut it all out. I feel like Tyrion could lend some legitimacy to Brans bizarre behavior... Maybe hes read something and one of these books about a 3 eyed raven and/or greenseers?

He has fighting experience, to be sure, but I wouldn't consider him to be much of a leader at all.
  23. The Bard of Banefort

    [Spoilers] E802 Discussion

I'm pretty sure Jorah, Beric, Tormund, and Grey Worm were only kept alive this long in order to have climatic deaths against the White Walkers. Sansa and Theon's scenes were beautiful. I personally felt romantic undertones there, but more in an unspoken, emotional sense. I have a feeling Theon may be meeting his end next episode. The Gendrya sex scene felt really uncomfortable to me. I know Maisie's an adult, but she looks much younger, and it's weirder when you consider that she was a small child when we first met her. I also just don't find the chemistry between the two very convincing. Jaime and Brienne's scenes were great. Very emotional and well-acted. I felt the acting was pretty good all-around in this episode. Actually, if I had to criticize anyone, it would probably be Tyrion, who's honestly kind of a drag these days.
  24. Lady Fevre Dream

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

Nah, I am still celebrating no Cersei. I'd be happy not to see her til much more of the cast gets to KL area. Sorry, I've been Cersei'd out since sometime in Season 5. Cheryl, Carol, Cersei.........whoever she is. I'm wondering if we're going to be spared her again next week.......can I hope?
  25. Cas Stark

    SPOILERS: Rant and Rave

Yeah, I think it does. Theon is in the North and Bran has already tried to talk to him, so Theon one way or the other sacrificing himself to save Bran makes sense, if I had to guess, I would guess that GRRM end game, there is a straight line for that to happen from where we last saw him in Dance. I didn't mind the Theon/Sansa stuff. They would have done better pacing wise to mix up these first two episodes a bit differently, but I did feel like some of the relationships had a slight chance to breath in a few of these conversations.
