NFL 2024: It's Draft Season You Sandbagging SOBs
Maithanet replied to Mr. Chatywin et al.'s topic in Entertainment
Seems like there are a lot of secondary guys that can skate by on great physical tools in college and then get exposed in the pros. In college there (usually) isn't a ton of incentive to challenge top cornerbacks, because there are always other places to throw. -

Treatments for trans children and politics, world-wide
Kalbear replied to Ormond's topic in General Chatter
Because I have friends who are trans. Probably not a lot more than that, honestly. Didn't say I wasn't! To be clear I'm not saying that you can't have rational viewpoints on something, only that you care more about something because of those marketing hooks. This isn't the same as following something blindly because other people are telling you to, exactly; it's that you are more engaged about certain things because of these manipulations. And that, in turn, makes it more likely for you to make less rational decisions because they are triggering your moral responses. But no, I don't claim to be an island of rationality in a vacuum. I only claim that there are specific reasons why such an incredibly minor issue - of trans people in professional sports, of which there is maybe 1 if you look kinda sideways at it - causes such an emotional reaction in people to restrict those specific people's ability to participate, and that's because it plays into some of liberal's natural biases. Again, there is a difference between taking the spoon-fed narratives that sides are giving you (which is what I think you think I'm talking about) and having a visceral and emotional response to specific arguments because of your moral leanings. Ultimately it's something I'm constantly thinking about, and I'm sure I get it wrong some times. Something I do regularly is that if I see myself reacting strongly to something - especially something really positive - I deliberately step back from it and pause significantly before responding or engaging. I don't know everyone does that, and more importantly I don't know a whole lot of people are conscious of how specific things may engage them more than others. -

She knows I care about her and love her in the general sense of close friends. She might know more, but it's never been something that was openly discussed. I try to treat all my friends similarly in regards to showing compassion and caring, so I can't say for sure. A different friend, after observing us interacting over a week, did ask me if I had feelings for her. So maybe it is obvious, but no one else has ever mentioned it. -
OR, you just don’t actually care about any issues.

Spurs are a bit of a bogey team for City but, yeah, City don't tend to fuck up a close title run in. They've managed to come out on top of every single close run in going back to 2011/2012.

I have absolutely no profound thoughts to add on this topic, but whenever I think of AI art I think of Data from Star Trek painting on an oil canvas, or playing the violin where he is programmed with the techniques of 200 masters. He is critiqued for the latter of having no style of his own, but still, he made Sarek cry once.....

It always sucks to love someone who doesn't love you back, there's no way around it. If she's a friend, it gets even shittier. Does she even know/suspect how you feel about her? But either way, I think loosening the contact is the smart thing to do.

Are Generative AI (LLM programs) produced illustrations… art?
Ran replied to Ser Scot A Ellison's topic in General Chatter
Horniness and AI... 98% of AI images being produced is porn, near as I can tell -- waifu porn, anime porn, furry porn, I-can't-even-describe-it-porn, deepfake porn (the worst). AI ain't horny, but for sure most of the people who are using it are horny as fuck. Not just image generators. Local LLMs are being trained to be sex chat bots and smut fiction manufacturing bots. "The internet is for porn" can now be "The AI is for porn" ETA: Okay, ChatGPT and Suno.ai delivers -

Interesting viewpoint. I'm becoming less confounded. -
My time has been limited lately, so only about 250 pages in. It reads easy. It's a odd blend of Shel Silverstein and Suess and some other stuff I can't put my finger on...but it's enjoyable so far.

Treatments for trans children and politics, world-wide
Ran replied to Ormond's topic in General Chatter
But, Kal, why is this issue in particular of particular importance to you? You're basically a sheep engaged by political marketing talking (in your view) to other sheep who are also engaged by political marketing, but you're still just a sheep, so ... why should anyone actually listen to anything you're saying? You're not an island of rationality in a vacuum. You're highly politically motivated, as anyone who looks at any random page of the US politics thread will see, so it seems you've fallen into the very trap you're tut-tutting about. It's a really strange thing. I assume you are very much aware of it, but it seems to make any discussion futile because you're now no longer in the position of someone offering your own reasoning or views, but rather in the position of someone who is repeating someone else's reasoning because their marketing has hooked you. -
I think tonight and Spurs away are the only likely prospects for City dropping points. So, yeah, City going in front isn’t ideal. ETA: Okay, so City aren’t dropping points tonight then. I’m not hugely confident about Spurs either. Bah.
