Madara26
The struggle is real out here. I just finished the 4th book but don't have anyone to talk to about ASOIAF, so I'm glad this place exist. Ok, I loved this book. I had heard bad things about this book but wanted to see for myself, and I wasn't let down at all. The Dorne and Iron Island chapters are soo refreshing and interesting. It's fun to dig into new characters, especially from those two parts of this world. It's about time we get to know them and see the other side of the coin. You can sense that the players in Dorne have something cooking and have been for a long time. Arianne's in for a real struggle, I feel. I knew I would enjoy the Dorne chapters but did not expect to LOVE the Iron Island plot. The Reaver is probably one of the most badass chapters in all of the books...seven hells. The Kingsmoot was interesting because we actually got to see the choosing of a new ruler. Asha and Victarion's relationship is nice because there doesn't seem to be a lot of affection between ironborn characters and these two share a subtly sweet connection. I feel Damphair is underrated. He's little borther in this situation but he may be the strongest of them all. I don't know if it's real or not but the Dragonhorn and it's reveal was clever and unexpected. Nice way to connect the ironborn to the situation in the east. That chapter was wild. Excited to watch the rest play out.
Jez Targaryen
Welcome to the forum! I also just finished Feast for Crows about a week ago and loved it. I don't understand all the negative reviews either, but whatever. You are probably aware that a similar negative buzz surrounds Dance with Dragons (maybe a bit less so, but it's still there). I'm about 250 pages into it already and I think it's fantastic. I am just sad knowing that once I finish I'll have to wait awhile for Winds of Winter to come out... Madara26
I just got DWD today. I'm on the 1st chapter. It's awesome reading Tyrion again but I got attached to a lot of the new characters in Feast. The Pate prologue and end connection was sooo good.. Arya Mad?
Welcome to the forum! I am at the epilogue of DwD and honestly I thought that Feast was the 2nd/3rd best of the series thus far. I actually put Dance at the top followed by AFFC/ASoS, mainly because I watched the show (3 seasons) before reading so the last 3 books were more fresh material (not to take away from GoT/CoK). I think my favorite character from Feast apart from Arya was actually Sam and his adventures. I agree that the prologue and ending were quite amazing and probably my favorite of the series personally.
F The King
I just got DWD today. I'm on the 1st chapter. It's awesome reading Tyrion again but I got attached to a lot of the new characters in Feast. The Pate prologue and end connection was sooo good.. I hated AFFC the first time I read it, but enjoyed it much more on the re-read. However, I still hate the prologue. Maybe I'm a moron, but the way it was written confused the hell out of me, and still does. I had to Google what happened because it made no sense,
Madara26
Sam's story is rising at a nice pace and he's changed a lot since he got to the wall. I loved his chapters and growth. Brienne's chapters are considered extremely boring but I thought that they were some of the strongest chapters in the book. Especially her last chapter. I had to put the book down after the 1st page and a half...seven hells. Anyway, to me her story reads like a film noir detective story with build up and important little details that leads to jaw dropping conclusion. I don't know. I just love this series. I thought the prologue was interesting and didn't really think too much on how it would play out and then BAM! Now I'm on ADWD on Davos II and it's good to be with him again. Facha Martell
I finished it last night and it was great. Not aSOS great, but great. I enjoyed the Ironborn and Dorne chapters, especially the last ones. There was not as much action as in aSOS or aCOK, but there was much more psychological deepness. It was really cool noticing chapter by chapter the growing of Cersei's madness and paranoia, and how Jaime has been growing up since his hand was cut. IMO, the Cersei and Jaime chapters are among the best in all the series.
