Young Griff is Aegon .Ok I will buy it. But how was Illyro and Varys was going to convince Viserys ,who sold his sister for an army to win him the Iron Throne ,to kindly step aside for Aegon and like it. Maybe the same way he got the Piss Water prince's father to accept a jug of Arbor Gold wine instead of a bag of gold dragons.

Heh... remember how Dany said that Viserys could have stayed in Pentos instead of going with the Khalasar? I bet Illyrio was able to subtly nudge Viserys into accompanying Dany, probably by suggesting that he wasn't fit to do so. Illyrio could probably have guessed that there was a good chance, Viserys having the attitudes he did, that the extraneous Targaryen prince would manage to get himself killed among the Dothraki. So maybe that was intentional.

On the other hand, it does kind of go against the idea of using Viserys' promised marriage to Arianne Martell to seal Dorne's support of the Targaryen restoration. Possibly Illyrio and Varys decided that Viserys was too unstable to be trusted to step aside politely for Aegon when the time came and they were willing to risk the Dornish alliance by letting Viserys get killed. They might have figured that Dorne will still rise for the Targs on Elia's behalf even without a marriage.

Possibly the original idea was a three-pronged approach to go with the three heads of the dragon:

1) Dany to secure the Dothraki horde shock troops

2) Viserys to bind Dorne

3) Aegon to wed someone else -- Margaery Tyrell comes immediately to mind, or heck, even Sansa Stark! -- to bring in another of the Great Houses to the Targ Restoration alliance. (Not sure the Starks would join in as long as a true Baratheon was on the throne, but given Cersei's behavior, which Varys and Illyrio certainly knew about...)

Anyway, Viserys's instability and delusional behavior might have made the plotters worried that he would pose a threat to the true heir when Aegon was revealed, and that's why he was "allowed" to die on the Dothraki sea.
