  1. The last episode of the season is titled "Valar Morghulis." I don't think Jaqen is done just yet. I liked Arya's scenes with Tywin, and I didn't mind the changes in her storyline until we get to Amory Lorch's over the top death scene. I'm not happy about them cutting out Weasel soup, but I understand why they cut it. The fact that Roose Bolton and Vargo Hoat held Harrenhal at some point in the books are ultimately meaningless to the final outcome of the story, so they just skip over it to Clegane having it from then on. I still think/hope they'll have Vargo Hoat next season. He and the Bloody Mummers just seem too important to be done away with.
  2. If anything Walder Frey would be even more slighted that Robb married some foreign girl than if he'd married Lannister bannermen. At least Jeyne Westerling was a Westerosi highborn. Even more-so, they make Talisa sound like she comes from a merchant's family. From LF's mention of the Gulltown Arryns who married into merchant families in Feast, it seems like merchants are looked down upon by Westerosi. Plus, she's a foreigner on top of that. Filch Walder Frey has far more reasons to be pissed at Robb than book Walder Frey.
  3. I was not happy with the Robb/Jeyne romance, and was pissed that there was no Weasel soup. Maybe Jaqen, Rorge, and Biter will be fleeing with them for a time (I don't think Jaqen killed all those guards by himself) giving them a chance for a final exchange, a coin, and perhaps a face change (how will they make that look convincing with their budget, tho?) I was glad they finally made good use of Ros as a stand-in for Alyaya I noticed this is the third time in the show they've used material from A Dance with Dragons for their script 7/10 for me Hopefully next week's episode will be better. Martin is scripting it
  4. Stannis humor

Still love- Davos- Lord Celtigar called it admirable Stannis- Had I shown him the contents of my privy, he would have called that admirable as well
  5. What Role Will Edric Dayne Play?

This is a semi crackpot theory, but I think he will become King. I think the Daynes have Targaryen-esque features due to Targaryen ancestry.
  6. Best Hand of the King?

Septon Barth sounds like the best hand. He was hand under King Jaeharys I. That was when all the roads were built and the 7 Kingdoms became dependent on a the capital politically and economically, allowing the Targs to stay in power even after their dragons were gone
  7. The Winds of Winter is Going to be a BLOODBATH

Arya- killed by Jaqen for failing to kill Tommen in Winds Bran- real body killed by wights when they take bloodravens cave, in Meera or Jojen's body during parley with Great Other in Dream Jon- killed by Benjen's wight in King's Landing fighting the Others in Dream Dany- dies giving birth to her and Aegon's daughter on Dragonstone in Dream Davos- killed by wights at Storms End in Dream Jaime and Brienne- die fighting side by side in Throne room of KL against wights in Dream Cersei- strangled by Tyrion and Mel's shadow-baby to end the siege of Casterly Rock without storming it in Dream Victarion- poisoned by Faceless men in Yunkai, who feel threatened by someone who can command dragons in Winds Damphair- killed when Tris Botley rats out Asha, Theon, him, and all those working to overthrow Euron in Winds Asha- killed when the great other destroys all ships fleeing Kings Landing before its attacked, with 'waves the size of mountains blowing in the wind like leaves' Melisandre- dies igniting the wildfire caches left by Aerys in KL to destroy the Others attacking it Arianne- likewise killed in the great other's storm with Asha Areo Hotah- Killed by Lyn Corbray during a confrontation with Doran in KL over Prince Lewyn, following Dany and Aegon's wedding after which it was revealed he was a fake (lords fighting to decide whether they want the Blackfyre or Targaryen) Barristan Selmy- dies on the Trident fighting the others, pulls a Hurin and makes a last stand so the westerosi forces can escape Jon Connington- killed for finding out the truth about Aegon being a fake and attempting to tell Dany, ratted out by Barristan to Ashara/ Lemore
  8. [twow Spoilers] Arianne II, Part 2

I think I remember Tommen almost telling Jaime at Tywin's funeral that he was molested by Joffrey. Its also just speculation tho, but I wouldn't put something like that past Joff any more than I would Euron.
  9. References and Homages

When I had to read that for my history of Africa class, I thought of Tywin as well. Things about his life resemble Edward Longshanks and John of Gaunt a little, but I feel like Okonkwo was in there as well. Sorry for the double post.
  10. References and Homages

That was his name? I remembered the last name. When I got to that chapter, I remember thinking, "You're a slacker, McFly!" Now I wonder if that was intentional. Edit: Darn, I checked, it was Gerold Strickland. I still hope that was where he got it from tho. Love that movie.
  11. Since he was first described in the CoK prologue. Whether its Doakes from Dexter, Bullock from Batman the Animated Series, or many of Tommy Lee Jones roles, the blunt, uncouth, but to the point authoritarian character resonates with me for some reason.
  12. References and Homages

Somebody got this one already. Still agree w/ it tho.
  13. References and Homages

To add on to that, Castamere might be named after Castamir the Usurper, the Gondorian rebel slain in the Gondor civil war. Heh, Martin loved him some Tolkien. Tho yeah, when I read about Simon de Montfort and Edward Longshanks, I immediately thought Tywin and Reynes and Tarbecks.
  14. References and Homages

I think I found another Tolkien reference, tho I'm not 100% sure. The d-bag singer Daeron has the same name as the d-bag singer Daeron from the tale of Beren and Luthien, who snitches on Beren to Thingol when he enters Doriath, then snitches on Luthien when she wants to go after Beren after Sauron has captured him. Could be a coincidence, tho. From an earlier post, coolbeans on Pyp=Pippin. Can't believe I missed that what with Sam.
  15. Fantasy and SF Recommendations: Series

I can't believe no one's mention Monarchies of God by Paul Kearny. Interesting, if not brief gunpowder fantasy based off of 15th century Europe. It has a good ending, even if it seems a little rushed. If u don't want to take my word for it, I was recommended this series by Ran/Adam Whitehead.
