Japan attacked Pearl Harbor (creating "jap" as a verb) and engaged in some not so friendly activities like the Baatan Death March. The US firebombded Tokyo and nuked the Japanese-- twice. Not directly, but mussing with world currency and flooding the world market with their goods and duplicates of popular goods, slowly bleeding possible revenue away from all of its competitors.
