  1. Hated the Loras scene and hate that they have changed him into some whore. Hate that they did away with Willas.

Hate there's no Patchface. It isn't as creepy. Fetus jars were stupid.

Do non-readers remember Selmy sitting in on the small council and knowing about Jorah?

  2. Hi D &D

First up I'd like to congratulate you on the show so far. It's superb. Everything I hoped it would be. Secondly I think you should have a look at young British actor Craig Roberts for the role of Young Griff/Aegon (if he's going to be in the show that is). Craig starred in the independent movie Submarine and has had a few other roles in films. He's seriously talented and looks to have a great future ahead of him. Good luck with season 3. I really can't wait.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1064292/

    More like Quentyn.

  3. It may be a couple years away until Quentyn Martell's escapade in Meereen will be cast and filmed (possibly in Morocco) and I sincerely hope that GoT completes the entire series of novels but I do wonder about "Q, Drink and Arch"("QDA"). I think that trio of characters is going to play well on screen.... but for the build up and pay off of "mission: retrieval and betrothal of the dragon queen" to really send viewers to crazy town you need a great actor to play Quentyn.

He is learned to the point of being nerdy. He's a hopeless romantic that aspires to be a cutthroat heroic champion of Westeros, but he is an awkward lumbering kidman(age em up).

Maybe Andrew Garfield as Quentyn. Aged up considerably but Garfield still looks youthful. I mean he just played f'n high school Peter Parker.

Also others have said that this person and that person are "too big" or concentrated on their "movie career." I think that those individuals severely underestimate the professional opinion and esteem that HBO productions carries.

And a one season arc would be equivalent to filming a movie methinks.

For Drink and Arch I think Chris Hemsworth for Drink (again another big name but consider the freakin possibility of plucking these guys out of the Marvel Universe and dropping them ASOIAF) and someone bigger for Arch, maybe Vinny Jones

Tom Hiddleston's name has been thrown around a lot on this forum and I think he could play a spot on Ramsey

I just think Q has to be considerably meeker but ultimately more determined than D&A. Again, wild hyperbole, but if I was D&D I'd get these guys agents on the phone now, and promise AG the chance at an Emmy bc they could turn the "Meereen Knot" into a fucking beautiful show IMHO

Did you even read the description of Quentyn Martell? Have you seen Andrew Garfield? Terrible, terrible casting. Even if it was possible that suggestion is just so off, it's ridiculous.

  4. I wouldn't normally punt her for Meera, but as they aged everyone up so far, especially Margaery, and Meera isn't romantically linked to anyone, I don't see how her age would matter. I know the wiki states that Val is blonde but I don't remember reading that description in the book.

You need to read the book again, then.

And yes, Marg is aged up, but the actress looks younger than this one does. Marg doesn't look 30.

  5. Claire Garvey for Val! Or Meera Reed. She is northern and a great unknown choice with magical eyes.

Terrible choice for both. Her age range is 22-30. Meera is 16. Val is physically nothing like this woman, at all.

But, they did totally screw up casting "Talisa" instead of jeyene, and Renley was SOOO off of what he was in the book, I wouldn't be surprised if a short, dark haired 30yro ended up playing Val.

  6. You guys should read the books. Too many people argue about what happens in the books, in the threads, and they have no idea what they are arguing about, because they go off of what they saw on tv. The show and books are so different, it doesn't even count if you only watch the show.

  7. Showing Stannis on the front lines adds to the contrast between Joff that had already been set up by Sansa, when she asks Joff if he will lead the van, like her brother does. It's a stab at Joff. Then we see Stannis on the front lines and Joff running off to hide. It may not be in the exact character of Stannis, but it really highlights Joff's character.

  8. I didn't read through all of the comments, but I don't get the "No Renley's ghost" stuff....Loras was wearing Renley's shizz, wasn't he? That is why Stannis was yelling "I killed you!!!"

Oh man. I was choking up for Tommen. When Loras opened the door I was like "Thank God!" Gah! I know he isn't dead yet in the books, but I'm holding out that Maggy was wrong about him. That was well written and scared me.

  9. 1. It's one guy. Jaime's great but he's not God. He can't single-handedly turn around the course of the war. Sansa on the other hand is the heir to Winterfell and the North when Catelyn frees Jaime. 2. She told Robb she would accept any punishment (even death if I'm not mistaken). Since he had just screwed up royally himself by breaking his word to the Freys he chose not to do anything about it. He's also the one who chose to behead Lord Karstark. He could have taken him prisoner instead. 3. Brienne does not serve Robb. She serves Catelyn. She never took part in any of Robb's campaigns, and would have likely remained at Cat's side during the battles anyway. 4. It would never have been a problem if Robb had been smart enough to make the exchange when he was still winning. A slim chance is better than no chance at all.

Jaime is INCREDIBLY important. More important than Sansa.

  10. Cersei tells Cat that she had a stillborn, on the show, because the show has up until now, portrayed her as less evil than she is. Cat is grieving over Bran, which Cers partially caused. Later, she tells Ned that the one time Robert finished in her, Jaime took care of it. She never lost a baby, she for the most part, aborted a baby.

Something like that. It's been a while since I've read the book, but she definitely doesn't lose Robert's kid...and if she had, she wouldn't have grieved.

  11. My guess:

Talisa will tell Robb she is Jeyne. They story she gave is that of her Grandmother's. Robb will meet her family. Talisa/Jeyne is in on something with Roose, right now. There are knowing looks whenever they pass each other in the tent. I think they weren't planning on Jeyne actually falling in love with Robb. She was supposed to just be a spy, passing on info from Roose to Tywin. Roose is so adamant about Ramsay going to Winterfell, because that is part of the plan, for the Bolton's to hold Winterfell for Tywin. There was no Weasel Soup because in the TV version, Roose gets to take Harrenhall without a fight, since he is already partnered with Tywin.

Mandon Moore will try to kill Tyrion, Pod will save him.

No chain, but wildfire from the sewers, trapping the ships.

Not sure if there will be a "Renley" sighting.

Arya, Gendry and Hot Pie run into the Brotherhood.

  12. Here is my guess of how the show will unfold...

Talisa is Jeyne. It will be revealed by her when they marry. That's when he Mom makes another deal, to make sure the Red Wedding takes place. Jeyne/Talisa has no part in that. She is in it with Roose, right now, she updates Tywin for him. They give each other sneaky looks whenever they go in and out of the tent...knowing looks. She isn't recognized in the Crag because she has a list of items she needs from her Maester, who is probably not going to spill who she is...that or she never leaves camp. The story she gives isn't hers, it's her Grandmas. No Weasel soup is needed, because Roose gets to take Harrenhall without incident, since he and Tywin are already together in this. He holds Harrenhall until Winterfell falls. Roose keeps mentiong Ramsay, because that is part of the plan. He needs to take Winterfell, it's the seat promised to him by Tywin.

  13. I said it was ONE of the reasons and in fact not nearly my biggest issue with reading these books. Main reason is that I simply have no strong interest in them. I like the series a lot but feel no need or urge to read ASOIAF as a book version. There are some reasons that make me feel even less enthusiastic and age thing is one of them though there are other WAY bigger ones, but as said, most importantly I just don't feel like it. There are thousands of good books in the world so I don't really see why not reading THESE books would make my life worse than not reading some other novels.

Why are you in the "Book Spoilers" discussion then? You obviously have some sort of interest in them, or you would be in the other thread. Annoying.

    The books are fantastic.
