  1. Hi there,

Been lurking on and off here for a while decided to say hi. Based in Brooklyn, and prefer the books to the show. Also a big Bernard Cornwell and Raymond E. Feist fan.

Look forward to getting to know everyone.

    Cheers

Welcome, Ser DuncanTheSmall, to the boards!

  2. I have not took the time to introduce myself to you which is awfully rude, and I apologize profusely.

I'm Leonardo, 20, from the (occasionnally) great city of Paris, France. I've been a fan of ASOIAF for 5 or 6 years now, after my uncle introduced the fantasy series to me. I wasn't a big fantasy fan to begin with (though I've read LoTR plenty of times and I've played some MMORPG since middle school), but, well, ASOIAF is ASOIAF.

I'm a business school student, occasional writer for a french basketball website, aspiring comedian failure, a functionning alcoholic and a tattoo enthusiast.

    Good morrow to you all.

    Bien venue, Leonardo!

  3. The tuna know, the tuna know everything. It is known.

Hi I like to friends so westeros help for me too much! Welcome to me!

    Hello, my friend. =o)

Of course, the tuna know. How could one possibly dispute that? Everybody with a sane mind?

Great to have you as a friend as well, KT I!

    Cheers to that!

  4. Welcome!

Westeros really has increased my enjoyment too - and I have made a ton of friends here - like that royal guy right above me (Hi KT I!).

    Hi, HC! =o)

And it's great having you as a friend.

  5. Been lurking for a WHILE. Have learned a lot, thought more about the series, and thoroughly increased my enjoyment of the books as well as attempted to satiate my undying desire for any further asoiaf action.

I live in Texas and have read the series two times--once in mid 2012 and I just finished reading it for the second time earlier this month.

I come on here to try to get my fix now that I'm not longer reading the books or watching the show.

Thanks to everyone for their great comments, explanations, and theories--crackpot or otherwise. Always entertaining.

    Welcome to the boards!

  6. Greetings, friends!

I'm 21, from far lands of Croatia and I started reading the books a few months ago. I'm currently in the middle of ACoK.

There's been one thing I've been wondering for a while now... Do Starks still say "Winter is coming" when it actually comes? I mean, it already came, it's silly :P

Anyways, nice to be here. Zima dolazi.

I think I welcomed you in the other thread back - but I'll do so once again "officially":

    Welcome to the boards!

  7. Hi everyone! I'm Lowri, a 22 year old from Wales. I've finally finished A Dance with Dragons, so I'm looking forward to all the discussion and speculation about future books that I'm certain I'll find in abundance on this forum :)

    Welcome, Lowri!

  8. No idea where to write this....but..."Rhubarb!" See, see, I told you it was me...My silly little chickadee! ha! Now you need to pay up.... next year will do just fine! Thanks for waiting...♥

    Huh?

    Anyway, welcome.

  9. Hi!! My name is Griffin and, obviously, I'm new. I wanted to start here so maybe some people could help me find a little bit more of what I'm looking for. Two things mostly: theories, theories, theories. I have read through all of the books but none of the released WoW chapters, so I would love to get my hands on more speculative material. Also, it's sort of become an obsession, all things SanSan: Fics, theories, facts, anything.

If you have any ideas on where to go, that would much appreciated!! I'm happy to be here and thank you in advance!

Welcome, griffinmartell, to the boards!

  10. SPOILERS

Hello my name is Eire, and I am new here. I have read GOT 1-4 and have started on book 5.

I wanted to post on this topic to write about the white walkers, and my opinion on seeing them in a kingdom with a king, (or priest) after picking up the baby.

This is just me speculating, so bear with me, and not everyone has to agree: Rather than have a white walker kingdom with a king, and so on, I always thought the white walkers were something more primitive. The white walkers are NOT human; anatomically they have humanoid features (except their exterior integumentay system) , but they are not humans. I always thought that the whitewalkers were more primitive in nature and acted similar in some ways to an undomesticated animal. Although, you can think of them as a pack , or a pride, and they seem to have an animal mentality versus the way a human psyche does. They do not seem to have an alpha , beta, omega, gamma , or zeta like a pack does, but psychology wise they are animals as they lack : mercy, and bliss that makes a human. Instead for the others these emotions are replaced with insticts that weigh heavily on dominance , and submissiveness. An example of this episode was the first season of the first episode when they let that guy go because he submitted. The white walkers understand/or sense that humans are different in their way of thinking , and so they exploit it , by acting on their fear. While the show may want to make them have a king, a city, and a palace is up to the show and G.R. martin,( and it is okay for them to put that there) but I think it is comparing them too much to the other houses of Westeros by doing it that way.

Tell me what you think please, I welcome all comments. I love the whitewalkers they are mysterious, and evil, - and I love it. I liked the entire episode and everything that we learned about the whitewalkers from it. Until I saw a kingdom , and a ruler- like they can have a god and a king, but I hope the show/books remembers they are not humans, and not to make them too general, and less mysterious, otherwise everything would feel very anticlamatic :bang:

(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.)

Welcome, Eire, to the boards!

It was interesting to read your post - and it got me thinking. No kidding.

  11. I lurked that thread after you provided the link, and I had no idea what I was looking at or what anyone was talkng about. :leaving:

Get involved. You can refer to HC or me that we told you about the thread.

We do discuss quite a range of things, but we don't talk religion, feminism or other things that really could set the thread afire.

In case of the show (GoT), we use mostly spoilers because not everybody gets to see the newest episode at the same time - we have members from America and all over Europe.
