  1. Actually a high point and on the quality level of Season 4. The weird plots were handled very well, especially Littlefinger and the Wall, the Jon Reunion was really nice. So alone for the cleaning up of the messed up plots and motivations of characters, like Asha and Theon, Littlefinger, Daenerys getting approval and being heard by the Khals, and also the Meereenese story, this episode gets 7 from me. Big plus points are still the actors themselves, who manage to recite and act even the stupidest script lines. Amazing on their part.
  2. 4 Since it was a major improvement of the last few episodes. Still horrible, but it is at least getting on a bearable level. With books in consideration, especially the contradiction that Bran apparently has heard the story told a thousand times, I would give it 2
  3. lame. How could you make such a big "twist" SO BORING? oh my god.
  4. 10/10 Better than Blackwater, better than Fire and Blood. DD really know their shit. Far better than in the books. Keep up the good work!
  5. What is there even to argue then? It is not the most viewed show. Not at the moment, likely never. (Going by the numbers of the first viewing, which are apparently all the craze in America). Some movies are bad while in theaters, but sell like hell when they are released on DVD and BD. But the concern was the numbers of the first viewing. Potential=/=Reality. Nothing against you, I know more people might watch it legally if you wouldn't have to get a sub for one show with 10 episodes a year, it is just how it is. People didn't.
  6. But most American TV shows do that. Apparently Big Bang Theory is the most viewed thing right now? Anyway, they all get that cultural phenomenon thing. (HIMYM, 2&1/2 Men, Friends, Breaking Bad, you name it) My argument was completely neutral. It was just a fact to get all a bit down from their imagined high. The show is (for me was) good and groundbreaking, but is a bit of a catchphrase yeller and controversy addict. They now only use the successful elements that made them great and completely leave out the other stuff. It is now a feast of bloody fights, lots of sex and actually just like 50 shades, living off that momentum of controversy and scandal instead of continuing their great writing, which they once had.
  7. It's just a late response to one of the show extremists on here that preached that this show was the biggest and best thing to ever happen to this planet, when in reality it is just a loud fandom of a normal series with normal viewership.
  8. Actually the viewer numbers are pretty low for a global success show, aren't they? 8million at peak? Mord mit Aussicht, a German show that only airs in Germany and Austria has a viewership of 7million. Tatort, another German crime series that is ancient by now, has viewer numbers from 7 to 13 million. Game Of Thrones is by no means the most successful or most viewed show. It is the loudest and part of the Zeitgeist, but that's about it. Not bitching, just putting things in relation.
  9. Neither do I. But I expect of them to turn down offers of writing/adapting a complex and difficult source material like asoiaf.
  10. To be fair DInklage is way too overrated. Great actor, but gets far too much worship. I liked the Stokeworth cgi. That was money well spent. 5k on a castle that has absolutely no impact on the story and will never ever be seen.
  11. Because we would watch the episode, puke it right out and then say if we liked it?
  12. Yes let's rate an episode a ten because of one good scene that somehow made up for all the other stuff.
  13. Old SpiceTM by Jaqen Look at me, now look at the wall, now look at me again, I am killing myself, now take of my face, I am you, now look back at me, I am the Waif, now look back at fake me again, you are now blind. Anything is possible if your best friend is a faceless man.
  14. why do people even use feast and dance as arguments if they haven't read them. Just defend your show with arguments you can back up and understand.
  15. Stop it! That would have been so great. Or just a shadow, clouds, making it all dark and giving Stannis an upper hand by that, similar to LotR. Or have her in the battle. I waited 2 seasons for her to burn a fucking eagle. Never happened. The moment I started loving her in the books. She could have rode in scarlet through the snow and burned Bolton men without touching them. Spontaneous combustion.
  16. They are my favourite books of the series, so there's that. But Feast cliffhangers were resolved in Dance, as it went a bit longer timewise. But yeah. I think they were brilliant. Enough to finish their current story and enough to make you want more, make theories what comes next. The omission of the Battles is the best thing. I love that. Especially in the North. Without it the Letter wouldn't even work. It is also a good thing to do in a pov based book, because you then hear about the thing from different guys that heard different stories. Now which one is true? That is what I love about it. Also, they are setup books for Winds and Dream. If Jon went any minute longer it would have spoiled the next book. And so we have to guess what sorta thing he becomes. Far more interesting. The show is mean though. They make cliffhangers others would do if the next episode comes in 2 weeks. It's far too unconclusive and unsatisfying. Not even a nice music piece at the end. Season one was the best one. I watched the show before I came to the books, and that was such a satisfying, depressing and hopeful finale. Season 2 was rubbish. Anticlimactic and boring. Underwhelming. Illogical. Season 3 was a nice Ghandi moment. Liked it a lot, but perhaps the ending of Dracarys would have been better here. With her army and the dragons marching forward. Season 4 was bad. Arya having a Marlboro moment with her horse riding towards a salt producing coast. Yeah. In the North. Nevermind that, but her as closer was horrible. Tyrion would have been better, as much as I dislike the guy. Or Stoneheart. And that one I dislike even more. Season 5 shouldn't have had ftw. Either never ever, or in s6 e 1. And Dany with Drogon would have been a better choice even. Or Varys and Kevan. Or Doran's speech. Anything really. Something depressing and something hopeful. At least have Sansa wade through snow into a forest, look back, march forward, Theon being no longer Reek. Maybe carrying her, since she might have had a broken leg. Give some guy a bit of old chivalry and heroics. Not all men are rapists.
  17. But at the right moment. And satisfying. Interesting, thought provoking. Open to make guesses. Hopeful. I am not joking. They are good cliffhangers. Cut at the exact right moment.
  18. Maybe he is the one with the extensive knowledge of porn and the library of address books with the actresses phone numbers.. :dunno:
  19. Maybe they also should generally cut writers and just have 2 or 3 that each focus on one character and then combine it, instead of that ridiculous "everyone writes everyone" crap. That cannot work. And when there are so many writers, inconsistencies are easily there, and it must also be horrible to phone around all the time, asking if the line you wrote wont contradict what the other guy just wrote.
  20. I wanna be pope! Do you know anything about religion, people, Christianity and politics? Christianity is the one with Jesus, right? *white smoke* ^must have been like that..
  21. Sidequestion that tormented me for a long time now, how did Weiss get that job? Why was he allowed to do this? They say this series is the hardest thing to make into television and it is a huge and important modern book series. So why did he get green light? He never did anything before that. Never directed something, nor produced anything and most importantly, never wrote anything for anything. No book. No short story. No screenplay. Bennioff did. Kinda mediocre, but Troy was a success and good film in its own, without regard to historical inaccuracies. Stay is not bad either. But Weiss did nothing before. Who would trust in someone with no references? Especially such a huge and difficult project?
  22. They made a point that suddenly Roose really cares for an heir and that an heir is all that matters in Westeros, yet make the one guy that is the most concerned about his heir burn her at a stake before he intended to run into victory and glory. Before he even had something to give to his heir. It was nonsensical and a plothole for their court intrigue story they want to sell.
  23. But we are debating here the ratings and quality ;) Simpsons is still on and bringing in money. Quality died a long time ago. Same with many other American shows that started pretty neat, but are now dying an embarrassing death. We want to prevent that happening to this show.
  24. Also noteworthy: Number of viewers doesn't equal good ratings. And if one TV is on and 100 people view it, do they count that? Or do they count in the illegal streamers? I think s1 and s2 might have had the same numbers as now, but lot of people didn't have HBO subscriptions then. And then ratings. Thousands of people go into cinema and are then reviewing the film badly. So there is that. And, if only the last episode had a large number of viewers, well that isn't too rosy either. It means the season was bland and skippable and they only wanted to see the finale. Everything is relative and should be looked at thoroughly before reading something into it that isn't.
