dragonsrule
Part of the vow of the black brothers is "I am the light that brings the dawn." They are definitely going to be involved in fighting the Others. Also, Jon's spouse, Ygritte, died when he returned to the Nights Watch. The NW fight the wights with fire, so they could be said to be a sword of fire, also their vows include "I am the fire in the dark"So I think lightbringer is the whole Nights Watch rather than any single sword. What do you guys think?

yolkboy
I think that theory really cherry picks, for it's one line of evidence... I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. So is the NW = Horn of Joramon as well? I find it far more likely the vows are a homage to Azor Ahai, and weapons used in the first Long Night. Perhaps AA was the first Lord Commander. As a theory, NW=Lightbringer has one line of cherry-picked evidence and nothing more.
