So this is actually my third time through this book and for some reason I have never made note of this exchange. It comes at the end of the chapter between Meera and Bran. She tells him that Jojen had a dream in which they were at dinner and Maester Luwin serves him a kings cut and everyone thinks and looks and smells delicious. The walders are presented with grey meat yet they enjoy it more. Bran says he doesnt understand and the only response he gets is that Jojen has said he will. Is this just merely referencing his lot in life? Bran has a grand destiny while the walders dont however they are enjoying it more? I just dont recall reading anything about this anywhere else any thoughts?

I don't have the book with me right now, but IIRC, Bran latter receives good news (I think he was informed Robb won a battle) but doesn't feel very happy, probably because the war is far from over and Robb and Catelyn aren't coming home. Meanwhile, the Walders are told one of their relatives died, and they are surprinsinly happy about it. So the meals of the dream are actually the news they receive, and the Freys enjoy their "bad news" much more than Bran enjoys the good ones.

Ya, the "good" news that Bran is "served" is that Robb won a battle (To anyone else this would appear as good news--i.e. the kings cut that looks and smells delicious--however as mentioned by Sarella Bran recognizes this means the war is far from over and his brother and mother are not coming home anytime soon, which is what he actually cares about and wants to hear about, so his "good" news is not taken in the sense that most ppl would expect).

The same goes with the Walders, only opposite. They receive news about the death of a family member--i.e. they are presented with the grey meat that nobody ever wants--, however they much prefer their news compared to Bran because even though most ppl would be upset with the death of a family member, for the Walders it means they are closer in the line of succession (and IIRC they say something to the effect that they didn't care for him much in the first place).
