Old Man of the river and Griff

My apologies if this has been posted before and I am just repeating it, but during my reread of ADWD I notice that JonCon isn't among those who see the old man of the river, I knew this the first time around but it didn't seem that important at first.

Now knowing what I know about JonCon contracting greyscale, it seemed that maybe the others such as tyrion who came in much more contact with the infected didn't contract it due to maybe being blessed as yandry said by the Old Man?

Yeah, I noticed that. I think it's more likely that it shows how Griff is bitter and miserable unlike the rest of the crew. Everybody else is cheering and laughing, and he's not even there. He cares about nothing any more.
