  1. In the introductory video of James S.A. Corey's Patreon project, Daniel Abraham says that the Expanse has sold over 8 million copies. Abraham's bio in this Locus talk states the same number.
  2. In the announcement of her new novel last year, Ann Leckie was stated to have sold "millions of copies worldwide".
  3. Alan Dean Foster can be upped to 5 million+ for the Star Wars novelization alone, according to this cover.
  4. John Scalzi recently gave a number in this blog post: 5 million copies sold worldwide, that number being from ca. 2016. Also, until recently very much below my radar regarding SFF, there is Nora Roberts, whose Eve Dallas/In Death novels written as J.D. Robb have sold more than 66 million copies . Some of her work written as Roberts is also genre and probably adds several million on top of that.
  5. I recently spotted this 1978 cover for Alfred Bester's The Demolished Man, stating 500.000 copies sold. The Stars My Destination probably also sold a bunch on top of that.
  6. Stumbled upon this 1995 Usenet thread in which John M. Ford details some of his numbers and estimates 1 million+ copies in print.
  7. David Mack has specified his numbers in a recent Twitter post: he has sold 1.2 million books. French author Pierre Bordage has sold 900.000 books.
  8. More catalogs, more numbers. Blanvalet: Trudi Cavanan has sold 2.6 million books in Germany alone (p. 164). Royce Buckingham remains a German bestseller, with now 290.000 copies sold (p. 171). And German numbers for some of the old-timers: 1.7 million for Terry Brooks (p. 185) and 750.000 for Raymond E. Feist (p. 187). Knaur: Markus Heitz has sold more than 450.000 books of his Pakt der Dunkelheit series, so these would be added on top of his Dwarves sales (p. 20). Rowohlt Polaris: Hao Jingfang (2016 Hugo winner) has a million books in print in China (p. 14). Bastei Lübbe: Michael Peinkofer has 850.000 books in print (but that includes a number of non-SFF historical novels) (p. 50). Andreas Eschbach has now reached 3 million copies in print (p. 74). Vasily Mahanenko has sold more than 100.000 books (unclear if that is for Germany alone or includes Russia) (p. 140). David Weber has 750.000 books in print in Germany alone (p. 148). LYX: Paranormal romances are selling like hot cakes: Lara Adrian has sold more than 1.5 million in Germany alone (p. 37), as has Nalini Singh (p. 54). Lynsay Sands has sold more than one million in Germany (p. 69). Emily R. King's sales are given as 250.000 in the USA (p. 61). Husband-and-wife duo Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series has sold more than 160.000 copies in Germany (p. 62).
  9. It's autumn catalog time for German publishers, which means there's some new numbers. From Heyne's catalog: Lui Cixin has sold 100.000 copies of the 3BP series in Germany, and that's with only the first two books having been released as of now (p. 128). 700.000 copies of Peter V. Brett's books sold in Germany alone (p. 160). 1 million German-language sales of Christine Feehan's paranormal romances (p. 166). 500.000 Alexandra Ivy books sold in Germany alone (p. 167). 3 million sales worldwide of Italian fantasy author Licia Troisi (p. 168). From Penhaligon's catalog: A higher quote for Robin Hobb: more than 7 million in print worldwide (p. 11). Jeaniene Frost is up to 600.000 copies sold in Germany alone (p. 13).
