  1. I no longer empathize with any of the characters on the show. Which is odd because I can't decide who I love best in the books. The writing is just pathetic and as painful to sit through as a Bolton family dinner. The writing is so bad that if I hadn't seen the actors in previous seasons I would say they were awful too. But it's clearly just terrible dialogue. The stone men were underwhelming, they refuse to even show Ghost at all yet hammer us with dragons doing nothing much every week, the fight scenes look worse and less believable than Walker Texas Ranger, and none of the wit and style of the first 3 seasons is anywhere to be found anymore. I'm done. Last time you'll hear from me about the show. Check please.
  2. Yes, absolutely! There were many funny lines in the books that made this a great interaction. This show lacks any wit and is just bland and dull. I give up as well. I don't care if they made changes but at least keep it entertaining! This season is just bad TV no doubt about it.
  3. Worst yet. Hot Garbage. I was utterly bored senseless. I give up, I'm done making excuses and giving it a chance to improve. I'm cancelling HBO, all their shows have declined seriously and it's very disappointing because they used to be good.
  4. 3 and I am being generous. I can't believe how many people like it. It's just bad television. I felt a little better after ep3, but this took me back to just feeling sad. The montage was cheese, the faith militants poorly done and rushed, the fight scenes were terrible, the sand snakes are dumb and Mel scene was gratuitous. Stannis scene was ok. I don't get how the show manages to feel both rushed and padded out at the same damn time.

  6. I only became aware of the books because of the show. Started reading them after season 3. So I may now be considered by many here one of those biased, purist, book lovers now. But even my family members who watched the premier with me, and are only fans of the show, found that episode unwatchable. I really am baffled that anyone would think this was a good episode in any case. Besides the production values, sets, costumes, CGI, and actors. But what good is acting if the lines on the script are garbage? What good is production and sets and special effects if the viewer lacks empathy and even itnerest in the characters? I feel the show has been dumbed down immensely. The script and dialogue are nothing like the first 3 seasons never mind the books. Just because something is popular doesn't make it foolproof or beyond criticism. I will continue to watch because I am invested as a fan to the series. I love many other HBO series and many of them like Rome, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, The Wire, start off really good and get progressively worse over time as writers change, or move on to other projects. I guess those who liked the shows premier really don't care much about writing or dialogue or plot. I guess they are more visually stimulated and enjoy CGI, and handsome or beautiful actors in various stages of undress. Or just want to see what happens next to be able to share stories with Co workers the next day at work. I read lots of posts that praise the premier saying things like "he was hot" or "dragons looked cool". And I guess that is one way the show works and a larger part of the audience it has enchanted. Just goes to show you sometimes the worst thing that can happen to any work is that it become popular.
  7. 2 Just bad in almost every possible way. I really enjoyed first 3 seasons Season 4 I felt it started to slip. And now I think it's off the rails bad. Too many reasons to count but main reason is I think the writing for scenes that have strayed from books is very poor. The whole episode felt like setting the stage for characters even though nothing was really happening like Brienne and Pod, Sansa and Peter, Loras and Marg, Missandei and GW. I do hope it gets better.
