  1. Fair enough, this is just my speculation, based on what I've seen and read on GRRM's "not a blog". It may very well turn out that I'm wrong. But, based on the evidence I've seen, I'm pretty confident that the conclusions I have drawn are not very far off. I guess we'll see.
  2. @GilletteMace @Vastet Ha, ha, ha, you guys are so hillarious. You keep coming back with the exact same, irrelevent argument. Nothing you guys ever say, trying to defend your precious show has anything to do with my actual criticism. What does any other show have to do with the quality of Got? I don't base my rating on other shows that I don't even watch. Does the lack of quality in some other show magically make D&D's plot make sense? Does it magically turn their cheesy, juvenile dialogue into smart, inteligent, witty dialogue? Does it have some sort of power to correct the countless inconsistencies found, not only from season to season, episode to episode, but also from scene to scene? Well, judging from the comprhension levels shown in interperating my posts, I'm not convinced any of you will be able to awnser, so I'll tell you. No it does not. At the end of the day, D&D have shown, in my honest opinion, that they are terrible writers, that put out a terrible show, period. I'm so flattered that you all hold my opinion of the show in such high esteem that you just can live with the fact that I think Got is a bad show. I hope I haven't cost you to lose to much sleep over it. You love the show and want to rate it high, fine. I disagree and rate it low. Get over it and stop trying to invalidate my opinion and paint me as some hate mongering troll. And don't worry, their not going to cancel you favorite show just because it got a few low ratings on some random, meaningless fan poll.
  3. It may not be, but criticism of D&D's writing should be valid, and not dis-credited with, "you just hate the show because it's different than the books" then.
  4. Well they did a great job in season 1. And your welcome to that opinion, mine differs, if you can live with that.
  5. Yeah, well check out his "not a blog", the only thing he has gone silent on is the show. ETA: And I'm sure it's just a coincedence that he keeps releasing chapters that completely conflict with everything in the show.
  6. Well, I feel like what D&D has done to this story is a grievous insult to all true ASOIAF fans and GRRM. This is especially true when you consider that GRRM turned down several offers to adapt the books and only sold the rights to D&D because they informed deceived him, by claiming that they wanted to make an adaption that stayed true to the books. There is a reason that GRRM has distanced himself from the show.
  7. See, I personally think that's a silly way to approach it, but I also respect your right to take that approach if it's what works for you. It's your choice, and I have no problem with it, as long as you don't try to bully me to do the same, as a lot of others in here do.
  8. I think it should be changed to "rate the episode from 1-10, as long as you don't rate it under 5."
  9. You might want to look up the difference between adaption and fan-fiction.
  10. It's unfortunate that you can't accept that this is supposed to be an adaption, not fan-fic. If D&D are so convinced that they can write such a superior story, then they shouldn't have commissioned the rights to a story with such a strong following of fans that love the books. Why didn't they just write their own story if they wanted to change and butcher this one so much? Oh, that's right, they would have never made it past the pilot episode. If it weren't for the book fans, you wouldn't even have your presious show to watch and rave about.
  11. Also, on the other side, you can have an awfull scene with absolutely nothing worth a high rating, but people will rave about how great it is and give it a ten, just because two of their favorite characters were re-united. Never mind that the whole concept of the scene, or the characterization is ridiculous and lacking any common sense or reason.
  12. Sure, you can say that there are aspects of the show that may not deserve a one, but here's my issue with this. Amongst a multitude of other things that I stated I rate the show on, I said the most important to me was whether I enjoyed it and was entertained. If certain aspects of the show are soooo bad that my immersion and suspension of dis-belief are constantly broken, then it's impossible for me to apreciate anything that I'm watching. As an example, you can have an amazing cgi dragon that looks cool, and argue that that is worth more than a one rating, but if I find everything in the scene with that dragon to be utterly stupid and non-sensicle to the point that I'm shaking my head and rolling my eyes before the dragon even shows itself, then I'm not going to enjoy the scene no matter how good of a job they did with the dragon. If I don't enjoy the scene, than I have a right to give it a one.
  13. Yup, but I certainly couldn't come up with enough flaws to rate this a 1. This is only scratching the surface.
  14. Well, I guess this is quite the pointless discussion then. I bid you a good day ser.
  15. See, this is a great example for me. I love the fourth and fifth books. I think they are fantastic. I know that a lot of people don't share this sentiment, and constantly criticise them. I have no problem admiting that most of that criticism is valid despite my views to the contrary. If other people didn't enjoy those books, it does nothing to prevent me from enjoying them, so why should I care what other people say. I don't ever bash people that say the books are crap, or assert that they are wrong in their opinion.
  16. You see, this is the problem. Why do you care that someone rates it a one? How does it affect you? Your not being honest with your vote, just as you are accusing other people of doing. Everyone has their own method of rating. I rate the show based on several things. Does the plot make sense? Is their consistency? Do I find the dialogue smart and interesting, Do the characters motivations seem plosible? Is there a theme or message? Do I support that message? Can I feel any emotional connection to the characters? I could go on and on, but the most important is, did I enjoy it? Was I entertained? For me, Got fails on all of these, and several more. That's why I give it a 1. Not because I'm trying to counter other votes. Not true, though I had issues and complaints on the first seasons, it was still a good show. I used to love it. The show has turned its back on everything that made it a success in the first place, and is riding the hype and momentum. It relies on smoke and mirriors to appease the mass following that doesn't care about quality, they just want sex, violence, and cheep shocks. And that's fine, if that's what you enjoy, then you have every right to rate it as high as you want. And let's be honest, if the first season was of the same quality of the fifth season, it would have never seen a second. So why are there so many tens? No, you are, I can assure you that nothing you claim applies to me. And yeah, I'm sure there are some that are as you claim, but it goes for both sides.
  17. Yes, I'm still watching, and I've had to explain why several times. I'm sure people are sick of reading it, and I'm sick of posting it. In fact it's already up page on this thread. Another reason, I haven't already stated is, because I want to watch it. I don't need to justify what I watch and for what reason. It's my choice and right. ETA: @Crixus a special to you.
  18. The same can be said for the drones of people rating a show that has a lot of undeniable flaws a ten. Everybody has the right to vote based on their own personal views. Why bother having a one on the scale. Might as well be rate from 5-10. ETA: you are making a lot of baseless assumptions as to other people's motives.. I again could make the exact argument for the other side.
  19. I don't think that comment needs to be taken literaly.
  20. I have a question for several of you out there, as I keep hearing this accusation and don't understand this. Several posters, that are obviously unable to understand or accept that someone might have a differing view than them, constantly spout out, "you just hate fore the sake of hating" I really don't get this. What does this even mean? Are you implying that someone thinks something is good and really likes it, but claims that they hate it? What is the point of this? What would even motivate someone to do this? I don't see what there is to gain from doing something like that. I think people just say this because they have no response for the legitimate criticisms of a show that they love, not because it's a quality show, but because of their emotional attachment to it. They find it difficult to admit that something they are passionate about, has sunken so low. I've been accused of this several times on these forums, and its pretty ridiculous. I don't want to hate this show. I want this show to be the great, iconic masterpiece that it once showed it had the potential to be. I would love nothing more than to come on here and give Got nothing but high scores and praise. Alas, that is honestly not how I see this show anymore. As I've stated several times before, I have absolutely no problem with people coming on here raving about how great Got is and giving high scores to something that I obviously feel doesn't deserve it. I respect your right to your opinion, and your right to rate the show as you please. What I ask is for that same respect. My dislike of this show in no way inhibits your ability to enjoy it. I have the same right to come on here and give this show a one, and voice my displeasure with it as you have to give it a ten. Please stop making baseless assumptions about other people's motives, just because you, for some reason, feel threatened that somebody disagrees with you. It would be real nice if I could come onto this public forum to share my opinion, without several people calling me a troll, insisting that my opinion isn't valid, and acting like they are the reigning authority on how everybody is supposed to vote.
  21. Sure, it broadened awareness, but there's a reason they were made into a show in the first place. The books were popular before the show was made.
  22. What's your point? There's also a reason why the kardashians and Jersey shore and the rest of the crap like that is so popular. Your arguments do nothing to address any actual critisism.
  23. All true, except for the part about putting the books on the map, but what it's not is a quality written story with any logic or sense.
