  1. Guess the comic version of TMK, which also featured Father with scales, is more "canonical" than the show. But still, there seems to be no direct information from GRRM...
  2. 1. http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Father_(the_Seven) : "The Father represents judgement. He is depicted as a bearded man who carries scales." Of course they have scales in Westeros, as Tyrion says "a scale tips two ways". But how do we know Father have a piece of scales? I searched for "father scales" in asearchoficeandfire.com with no results. The closest thing I can find is The Song of the Seven: 2. As Ran said in the following thread, the sigil of House Dayne contains an 8-pointed star now. The sigil description and the image should be updated, namely, File:House_Dayne.svg, List_of_houses, and House_Dayne. Moreover, the older version of the image File:DayneCoA.png is used on the pages of many Daynes, which need updates.
  3. Is it necessary to distinct THK, TSS, TMK and TSotD, TRP, TPatQ? We don't make distinctions in the chapters in the main novels and the world book. So maybe AKotSK and F&B are suffice. This would also save much are more labors.
  4. Shall inconsistencies in the arts in TWOIAF included in the errata as well? I know they are out-of-universe, but still, some might be misleading... This post summarized most of them.
  5. Absolutely awesome! To add a few tinybits: The Merryweather -> Harys Swyft thing. It is plain that the trivial remark and nod was from Harys Swyft. ASOS, "Ser Ryman Frey refers to his grandfather, Lord Walder Frey, as his father" might not be a mistake. Many Frey called Lord Walder "father", as discussed here. Moreover, Ryman might hinted "my father Stevron awaits you in grave." Just as "mayhaps" and "your uncle’s bloody wedding", another foreshadow for the Red Wedding... TWOIAF, The Targaryen Kings, "princesses Rhaena and Baela" was fixed in later versions.
  6. I have gone over all the differences between the kindle versions I mentioned. All nontrivial mistakes I found are listed in my reddit post. Most punctuation differences are something like , <-> . and a missing quotation mark at the end of a conversation. Now that I remember, there are two or three cases of ! <->? , which might be somewhat nontrivial. For instance: But in fact, v3.1_r17 contain 500 or so more typos than v3.1_r2, really weird. I almost suspect the texts in v3.1_r17 was from OCR. In one case they mistake something like Dorne for Dome... The mistakes fixed in v3.1_r17 are "The lion's dead" , Jeyne Westerling's hips, and a third one I missed in the reddit post. And some trivia: GRRM misspelled Valar Morghulis for Valor Morghulis in one book, just as in this chat in 2002. GRRM misspelled colossal for collossal twice.
  7. A World of Ice and Fire app said Jon Arryn "fought for King Jaehaerys II in the War of the Ninepenny Kings, and, as a result of the alliances made in that war, came to foster Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon." under Jon Arryn, which neatly solves the puzzle of the fosterage of Ned & Robert. Maybe we can merge it into the wiki pages for Jon Arryn, Steffon, Rickard and the War. Rickard might fought in the War as well. I made an easier-to-read post with a few additional info. Expecting your awesome errata! There're hundreds of fixed typos in the books (misspell of names excluded). Most of them are punctuation and something like "halfhelm <-> half-helm <-> half helm", really boring. I can send you the original diff files if you still want them... The weird thing is, when I compare the Bantam kindle version of traditional cover to HBO cover, their typos intersect! That's to say, two different editor groups worked independently to fix the errors in the books, so errors fixed in one version remain unfixed in the other, and vice versa...
  8. I have collected quite a few. Listed fixed errors in AKotSK & TWoIaF are complete, as they are found with auto comparison of texts. Typos are excluded. Fixed errors: 1. TSS. Cobble Cover -> Cobble Cove, as explained above. A major change, showing the Osgrey fields once expanded to the western shore. 2. TSS. The child's rhyme echoed in his head. Oak and iron, guard me well, or else I'm dead, and doomed to hell. -> The old shield rhyme echoed in his head. Oak and iron, guard me well, or else I'm dead, and doomed to hell. To match THK. 3. TSS. Dunk grabbed her braid and pulled her face to his. It was awkward with the crutch and the difference in their heights. He almost fell before he got his lips on hers. He kissed her hard. One of her hands went round his neck, and one around his back. -> Dunk grabbed her braid and pulled her face to his. It was awkward with the crutch and the difference in their heights. He almost fell before he got his lips on hers. He kissed her hard. One of her hands went round his neck, and one around his chest. I guess too uncomfortable for her with both hand behind Dunk? 4. TMK. Her bride's cloak trailed behind her, done in candy green and white and yellow. -> Her bride's cloak trailed behind her, done in undy green and white and yellow. That's the Butterwell sigil. 5. I.Appendix. Viserys II, fourth son of Aegon III -> Viserys II, younger brother of Aegon III. Where Ran gained his status. 6. IV.6 Arya I. A harbor was visible off to her right, a tangle of piers and quays crowded with bigbellied whalers out of Ibben, swan ships from the Summer Isles, and more galleys than a girl could count. Another harbor, more distant, was off to her left, beyond a sinking point of land where the tops of half-drowned buildings thrust themselves above the water. -> A harbor was visible off to her right, beyond a sinking point of land where the tops of half-drowned buildings thrust themselves above the water: a tangle of piers and quays crowded with big-bellied whalers out of Ibben, swan ships from the Summer Isles, and more galleys than a girl could count. Another harbor, more distant, was off to her left. GRRM didn't fix Braavos map in 2005. So Drowned Town sat next to Purple Harbor. But since the publish of TLoIaF in 2012, Drowned Town is next to Ragman's Harbor. 7. IV.21 Queenmaker. “…The lion is not so easily provoked.”“The lion's dead. Who knows which cub the lioness prefers?”“The one in her own den.” ->completely removed. She learnt Tywin's death only later. 8. IV.44 Jaime VII. She had narrow hips, breasts the size of apples, a mop of chestnut curls, and the soft brown eyes of a doe. -> She had breasts the size of apples, a mop of chestnut curls, and the soft brown eyes of a doe. Most controversial mistake. Confirmed errors: 1. I.5 Jon I, Tyrion’s tumbling. Confirmed here and here. 2. I.15 Sansa I, Renly's green eyes. 3. Sex of Bran's horse Dancer. 4. "Shit, I made the wall too high." Probable errors(memory errors excluded): 1. I.15 Sansa I, And so they left her direwolf and his bodyguard behind them, while they ranged east along the north bank of the Trident with no company save Lion's Tooth. They should go west to meet Arya, as discussed here. 2. I.Appendix. —SER JAIME, called the Kingslayer, heir to Casterly Rock, a twin to Cersei, 3. II.32 Sansa III. When she emerged, Sansa walked on the Hound's left, away from the burned side of his face. The Hound was burnt on the left side. 4. III.24 Bran II. When they lost their way, as happened once or twice, they need only wait for a clear cold night when the clouds did not intrude, and look up in the sky for the Ice Dragon. The blue star in the dragon's eye pointed the way north, as Osha told him once. Osha said "the blue star in the rider's eye" in II.35 Bran V. Yet I guess they wouldn't get lost so long as there's a second blue star in the Ice Dragon, and the two blue stars are close to each other. 5. III.44 Jaime V. The black goat of Qohor, he knew. Jaime cupped his hands to shout. Phantom hand. 6. III.49 Cat VI. Brothers, half-brothers, good brothers, and nephews. Raymund and I shared a mother. Raymund and Lame Lothar didn't share a mother, though they could have shared a milk mother. 7. IV.4 Brienne I. The hedge knights and the septon washed down the meat with ale, but Brienne drank a cup of goat's milk. Should be the merchant. 8. IV.32 Cersai VII. “Stannis may have had a hand in this. Balon Greyjoy offered my lord father an alliance. Perhaps his son has offered one to Stannis.” Should be brother. Errors in TWoIaF: This thread.
  9. House Parren is listed in "Houses in the Westerlands" in Citadel Heraldry, and the world book described them as "Lannister kings wed their children to Andals as well...Other noble houses were also born in such unions—such as Jast, Lefford, Parren, Droxe, Marbrand, Braxe, Serrett, Sarsfield, and Kyndall. " in Page 196. However, the world book also listed them in The Reach section: "Many noble houses of the Reach trace their ancestry back to Andal adventurers given lands and wives by Garth IX, Merle I, and Gwayne V, amongst them the Ormes, Parrens, Gracefords, Cuys, Roxtons, Ufferings, Leygoods, and Varners. " The inconsistency is solved with the new editions of the world book. Since v3.1r3 of Bantam kindle version, the lines in The Westerlands changed to "Other noble houses were also born in such unions—such as Jast, Lefford, Drox, Marbrand, Brax, Serrett, Sarsfield, and Kyndall." I guess the wiki page http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/House_Parren requires modification now.
  10. I guess "Cobble Cover" in the wiki should change to "Cobble Cove" with a redirection. When first appeared in 2003 in TSS, it was "Cobble Cover", but in AKotSK in 2015, it changed to "Cobble Cove", which I think it's more reasonable. You can check the changes on google books: https://www.google.com/search?q="There+was+a+time+when+House+Osgrey+held+all+the+lands+for+many+leagues+around"
  11. I guess Harmen Dondarrion on the wiki should now be Harmon Dondarrion?
  12. I found two possible improvements for Meereen and Whitewalls. 1.In the map showing the location of Meereen, it is on the north bank of Skahazadhan River. I believe it is due to a mistake in the map in the UK version of aSoS, as explained in this post. On all other official maps, Meereen is on the south bank, which fits the plots in the books. 2. The wiki page says Whitewalls "was built near the Gods Eye and was closer to Maidenpool than to King's Landing." We can locate it more precisely. In The Mystery Knight, Dunk was on the way to kingsroad and Winterfell from Stoney Sept. And he remarked that "We have to go by Whitewalls to reach the kingsroad" before he crossed Gods Eye to Whitewalls. Therefore Whitewalls must lies between kingsroad and Gods Eye, on its east or northeast bank.
