  1. 10/10 brilliant. I had a little get together with my friends. 3/5 didn't know dragons were coming and 5/5 squealed when they did. (we're teenagers when it comes to good stories... don't judge :P ) I really cannot think of anything that I didn't like. Well maybe the fact that I have to wait 12 months to see any more... damn it... EDIT: Can I just add how much I LOVED Old Bear's montage overlapping the march beyond the wall. Effing brilliant.
  2. I don't understand all the complaints. There doesn't need to be battles for this show to be awesome. And the show doesn't need to be word for word in order to pay homage. The writers and producers are not sitting in their offices laughing "HAHA those NERDS! We sure got em this time!" No. They did the best they could. And darn it, their best is pretty fucking impressive. No spoilers... but something happening next week may be a big budget scene. And I am certain it will be spectacular.
  3. 10/10 Amazing. I'm glad a show spends more time on characters and their personal stories than 10 mindless minutes of hacking. FYI Martin is writing Blackwater himself....
  4. Sorry lag and I double posted. (I hate living in the boonies :tantrum: )
  5. I disagree. Are you a reader? Meaning, did you know what was going to happen before hand? I am reading the books but I've kept my pace slow and I have not gotten to this point. And I did not STOP saying HOLY SHIT the entire episode. But if you have read the books I can see how this build up to the final conclusion episode wouldn't have a lot of jaw droppers for you.
  6. I honestly have no complaints that are worth mentioning. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire episode. (Remember kids, I'm new to the series). I will have to watch again to digest properly. But I was overwhelmed in a fantastically good way. Mt first 10 of the series. Love love loved it. I would go into more depth but I don't want to spoil anyone. The scene I think was my favorite, jumped out of no where. I never would have expected it to be my favorite of this wonderful wonderful episode but... It was Osha's words to Bran. I got the shivers.
  7. People seem to be pretty split. I for one, loved it. The LF porn scene was most likely done for the sex bit, but, i could see past it. LF was talking and the actions of the girls was mirroring what he was doing to the realm. Something fake that seems... good. But don't get me wrong, i TOTALLY understand why some would find it off putting and distracting, I'm just not one of them. SOOO happy Jon is back, I love that man. Sam is brilliant. Drogo was simply awesome, you could see how much anger he felt and the almost hysteric sound of his voice, it was just awesome. Wish they'd put episode 8 up early :D
  8. I am a new reader. I have been reading the first book along with the show, stopped whenever the show stops. I have only been spoiled about one major thing. (An event that happens at the end of book 1) That being the only major plot point that I accidentally stumbled upon... I have to say... I'm finding everything else is quite surprising. I had not a clue why Ned was searching for Robert's bastards. And I realized the answer just as Sansa opened her mouth. So I know many of you are seasoned fans, but as a new comer it is VERY fresh and VERY interesting for me.
  9. I will have to do a re-watch, but Monday morning employment prevents me from doing so this evening. So these musings are first impressions one shots. I thought it was... for lack of a better word... awesomesauce. Ned had me pulling at my hair and tugging at my heartstrings. Tyrion was badass as usual (see: my avatar) Was really pleased with that whole scene at the Eyrie. But the events in Vaes Dothrak stole this week for me. Dany was just... splendid. She is becoming so strong and creepy all at the same time. I loooove it. I would go into more detail but I don't want to spoil anyone. The one bug I had about this was the fact that we didn't venture to the Wall. I understand why, this ep. was already jam packed, but I stilled missed it. Based on the previews, I am certain we will see more of Jon, Sam and the others next week (I am not an HBOGO lady). Solid 9 for me. Bravo.
  10. As a newb and a reader who has yet to finish book one (Don't judge, I'm taking my time absorbing everything!) I know I have no business sporting an opinion, but I would like to add that I think it was such a big threat not just because it's another Targaryen/ they continue to have children and exists it's the fact that it's a Targaryen AND a Dothroki. This child techincally has a right to the Iron throne but it also will have a right to the horde. A child of both worlds if you will. I can see why that would scare the beejeezus out of Robert. (if that's possible :P )
  11. Gooood evening. My newb self has returned to gush about the latest episode. I really loved it, it wasn't my favorite so far, but still top notch. Favorite Stuffs Tyrion going all warrior with the shield. The Sky Cell Arya... "I was chasing a cat." I seriously, lol'd Creeped Me Out Stuffs Sweet Robin and Mummy. That is all. Sad Face Stuffs My favorite characters are Dany and Jon. So I REALLY missed them this week. I understand why others didn't but their stories are what really hooked me in the first place. That's not to say that I'm not loving all the action in King's Landing (or the action in Greyjoy's bedroom... I am a straight woman thank you very much) But, I just missed seeing them this week. Looking forward ot their return soon. I don't really have any new comments on the Loras/Renly scene expect that in episode 1 Tyrion enjoyed much of the same and THAT scene wasn't explicit in the books either. I thought it was well done, two people who can't be themselves in public being themselves with each other. Whether or not they have true feelings for one another I cannot say. But in that moment, it was almost sweet.
  12. I can definitely understand where some 96'ers (my own dub for "from the beginning" fans) Would be upset by some of the changes. Investing over a decade into a fandom is quite a long time, especially when the series is not yet complete! But I think we have to understand the difference in medium. Books cannot be translated directly from page to screen. Time, money, and many more things are a factor here. Being a newcomer to the series (yes yes, I know that makes me a newb AND a summer solider. I accept and embrace it ;) ) I can say how much I love and am enthralled by this amazing world. That being said, I understand the frustration that favorite scene have been changed, moved, or are nonexistent. And I can only hope those frustrations and "meh" moments slowly fade. I really liked how RAddichio put it. Some scenes will be boring to some and mind blowing to others. But that is the beauty of art. It can be interpreted in many different ways. Then we can discuss those ways in awesome places like this :)
