  1. I think the writers and directors, etc, are genuine fans of the book and really talented. Again, contrast Dune.
  2. The little smoke ring that baby Drogon blew before the dragons got their igniters lit was awesome.
  3. I love in the books how in his final scene so far, in extremity, Theon still has that sh*t eating grin and smart ass attitude. Just to see that, I hope the show has some of his book story.
  4. Oh yes he WOULD kill Brienne the minute he had the chance, or try, he certainly was planning to the moment he got the chance. She knew it. He never got the chance since the Bloody Mummers caught them both.
  5. LF has a weakness for Sansa - he talks as though he is in control of what he does at all times, and MAYBE he understands his weakness for Sansa to keep it from being too much of a liability. This is because she reminds him of his lifelong love, Cat. My Take Anyway. Marie
  6. I gave it an 8 (as I said) but if the Other's horse had its guts hanging out that would have been worth a whole point. The Other and the wights were just done very very well. Nothing like I imagine, but there's only so much one can do. In my imagination they are nowhere near as solid and with form as portrayed, but they only become partly noncorporeal in my imagination - in the book they are protrayed as quite solid!
  7. This was debated recently. She burned her hands pulling a boar spear out of Drogon. Those have wooden handles. Now, the tip was red hot, melting point of iron. thousands of degreesF. Wood burns at 450F BUt 3rd degree burns occur at about 140 degrees F. So the spear handle is somewhere between 0 and 450. If she is normal, it is well below ignition, because the burns are second-degree superficial. So it is only 120 or so. So either she is heat resistant or she got damn lucky with her timing. One of the spears did burst into flames. Marie
  8. I sure dont know but maybe they were programmed to go after the Fist?
  9. Hint - and hope this isnt a spoiler - Hodor is all he ever says.
  10. The Winterfell Weirwood was awesome but did anyone see a face? The intro has one but I didnt see it in the Luwin scene
  11. Maybe he did it for Talisa. Oh wait - she isnt Jeyne. That is really messed up bc they couldnt very well throw in some Volantene god. Shae could easily still be acting. Tyrion didnt truly know she was faking it yet.
  12. If the Ironborn at Winterfell really went home and gave Theon to the northerners outside, who are the dead guys in Winterfell and how come Winterfell was left a smoking ruin? Hard to have a fight when on side vanishes. Talking about the movie not the book
  13. Doing a rereading and discovered that in addition to all the other things the Others are also a mist. As Jaime said about the shadow baby, how to you fight a [mist] Hoping to see Ice SPiders before I die.
  14. 8. The Robb/Cat dialog sucked as did the Robb wedding. They have to cut so much out of the book, why ADD needless stuff? I could almost see Jon's sword underneath Quorin's armpit. I get the impression the extras in Iceland became sparse after the first few scenes. I did like what they did with the House of the Undying. It was totally made up and none of the portents were there but it worked for me. The Zombie Parade was pretty cool. Dragonsteel is supposed to be blue but other colors were messed up too. Clarke is a weak actress. I did like seeing Sansa smile - tho the lecherous Baelish put a stop to that. Brienne/Jaime very well done. Awesome Weirwood tree at Winterfell. Jaqen was supposed to be heading for Euron, not Braavos, so I hope the continuity holds. The Faceless Men are not supposed to kill for themselves. Well, maybe beginners anyway. Big wuss out on Tyrion's scar. Pycelle is not only growing back his beard he is becoming a wise ass.
  15. I liked it bc Jaqen was totally nonplussed and basically begged her to change her mind. The "please" had the same effect to me, only briefer
  16. there was no sitting king bc lannisters killed him and his grandchildren - except the child that Robert killed - the others had to run away. robert was certainly thinking of being re-usurped - suspecting a targ return - and if L+R+J is accurate that explains the incredibly confidential and difficult secret Lyanna wanted him to keep. Eddard could also have grabbed it - if Jaime had been older and wiser he might have kept it. Pycelle was in on the lannister plot s well - too bad no one told jaime. Robert's claim was that he reached the throne that Eddard was holding for him - the king was dead and his heir was dead and everyone else had run or been killed. We have been told the female line targ relationship was an excuse.
  17. really? after ruling for 300 years? Well, crackclaw can be counted on and the lannisters are hashing it so badly - and robert was an indifferent king. I can see westerosians going right back to targs.
  18. I'm sorry you were upset. I read the bob book and still couldnt tell the men apart in the series. perhaps you shouldnt watch if you are upset. too bad the bob battles lacked water, boats, and wildfire with huge realistic explosions.
  19. An even more effective time-suck. I have reread the words off the pages and made so many margin notes I have no more margins. And then I had to go find Hedge Knight I and II. And read (or reread) other GRRM work including one which has the embryo of Tyrion in it (UNINTENTIONAL EASTER EGG!! since GRRM thought of that character when making Tyrion) BUt rereading aSoIaF is better than reading a new Patricia Cornwell. Marie
  20. There is a thread for criticism without flaming. I want to know why NO ONE has given it a two.
