  1. Valar morghulis is probably a common phrase. Plus why would she say something to Dany if she didn't think she'd understand what on earth she was talking about?
  2. We didn't know of Robb's plan in the book until they tell Edmure. And even so how's that a plot hole? That was poorly worded, but I think he meant the crag and beyond. Not sure how you call that a plot hole. Robb being hypocritical is not a plot hole. I'm just going to stop there because its a long list and I already believe you're calling things plot holes with no justification.
  3. I would love for you to discuss the plot holes.
  4. You're not supposed to know anything about the Others yet, other than they're not brainless zombies. I find it kind of exciting that way. After 5 books we don't even much about them. I dig the suspense!
  5. I hope they keep the scene of him beating that guard that mocks Brienne with his golden hand!
  6. It's a small council meeting. Why would the population of King's Landing be sitting in a small Council meeting? It's not court, it's a private meeting. That musical chairs scene was a no dialogue portrayal of the attitudes and motivations of each council member, very well acted and entertaining.
  7. Dany isn't talking to the viewers, though. She talking to a young slave girl who has just listened to her master insult and berate this woman. She knows nothing of Dany even if we do.
  8. The whole point is that it's completely out of place for the mood. Do you think your keen detection skills picked up something HBO missed like wearing a pair of socks that don't really go with your shoes?
  9. I gave it an 8 but I'm a tough grader. I almost gave it a 9 just because of Craster's laugh. Seriously how awesome was that laugh? The Pod scene is a great scene. It's well acted and humorous, and asks the viewer why this thing may have happened - adding layers to the complexity and subtlety of the KL plot and the game of thrones. People complaining about...I guess I don't understand. It's a great scene, and not at all a "Waste of time."
  10. "No, it gives me joy to kill people." "Killing's the sweetest thing there is." "There's plenty of women in the ground. I've put some there myself." "Any man dies with a clean sword, ill rape your fucking corpse." "Fuck the King!" (In front of the King) He's not a puppy. He's brutal and hilarious but he has a soft spot for Sansa who he still growls at. I don't know why that would translate to being soft toward Arya.
  11. It's not really out of character at all. He's not exactly nice to Arya on their journey and its not like he's talking to Robb saying "Hey Stark I found your bitch sister. Fuck shit balls."
  12. If it makes you feel better, at least it's a small minority. There are people who still post "Why do they keep changing stuff?!" every day as if eventually the writers will change their minds and start basically transcribing the books verbatim to television.
  13. I guess there's a lot of downtime in Stannis' story...Kind of odd, though. I can't fathom what the purpose would be, besides perhaps explaining the Red Priests and R'hllor a bit more, as far as resurrection and all that goes. I'm a bit anxious about that, to be honest.
  14. There is also the fact that they want to give House Bolton more import over what essentially turns out to be a group that ends up not having much of an impact in the long run.
  15. I think that in S1 at least, the episode endings in particular were more "OH SHIT" and that carried on for the most part in S2. There are of course some exceptions. But I think given the content they have to work with, the latter half of the season will all be OH SHIT moments, perhaps even as early as E03 or E04.
  16. I haven't reread aSoS in a while, but I can't recall what Varys is even doing during all of this. I love Conleth Hill, though, so I'm not opposed to just injecting him into the story for the sake of it.
  17. To be fair, aSoS doesn't get WOW until later. It's actually relatively slow moving in the beginning, and not in a bad way. But to really pull of the WOW they have to set some groundwork. There are a lot of WOW moments still to come.
  18. I didn't really think about it, but Jojen swag is an improvement over Jojen bore. He's actually a bit annoying in the books, and as a result Bran's chapters end up a bit boring in general even though I do enjoy them. A charismatic Jojen will definitely lighten the mood of that journey and make it more interesting, at least just to watch his performance.
  19. 1. Well, Jojen has the benefit of foresight. Keeping Bran's whereabouts a secret is paramount. Alerting Robb would have tons of Northmen searching for him to bring him safely to...Riverrun perhaps. That directly conflicts with what Jojen needs Bran to do. Plus since he has green dreams, which we don't really know yet in the show, he knew where he would find Bran and when. 2. Jaime probably thinks he can do without her. Remember he's complaining about how she wants to walk the whole way ducking under hedges and is desperate to get to KL quickly. Plus he doesn't like being someone's prisoner and up until now doesn't particularly relish Brienne's company - in fact so far he find her to be quite annoying and draining.
  20. I honestly felt no suspense while reading those chapters. This isn't a thriller.
  21. Well Jojen mentions that when he heard about Ned, Howland cried, the only time his son had seen him do so. I expect if we get a version of the KotLT story that will reinforce their friendship again, but I have no idea if D&D will cut it out. Also the transition from "We have you at spearpoint" to "We are venturing off as friends" happened a bit suddenly as you mentioned. It was as if there was a scene in between that got cut, or that first scene was cut early.
  22. What about the Hound? So far his appearance is in line with the book. Theon's captor will probably be made quite clear next week, perhaps the following week.
  23. Well that's my point. I actually don't have much of a problem with it. One line of dialogue would have helped but if you read my other responses I'm on your side :) I see where the other poster is coming from in that it doesn't appear as though they're being hunted. Which I why I think if Mormont just told Sam or his new babysitter that if they stall they're going to get caught.
