  1. Davos was imprisoned by Stannis in the books. He is also freed later for no other reason than being loyal and giving honest advice. Dany doesn't kill Mero and the other two because their allegiance will mean taking Yunkai much easier. This is exactly how it works in the books except the Stormcrows don't exist. Daario does basically the same thing in the books except he doesn't sneak into her tent so easily. The end result is just the same. I like how Daario can't be a ninja but we can live within a world where faceless men exist. We've seen the white walkers be more strategic and intelligent than ever in the books. Always the artists. Don't know wtf you're talking about here. We don't know anything about the white walkers from the books really. It's all a mystery. We know way more about R'hllor. So in the same post you praise GRRM for being excellent (which he is) you also argue that everything he's done is bad on the show. I love show criticism as long as it actually makes sense and doesn't show an unreasonably illogical adaptation bias.
  2. It's supposed to be very awkward :P That scene was shot pretty well, besides perhaos the first second of the shot when you're behind Sansa and Joffrey as they walk the aisle. What didn't you like about the shooting?
  3. The point is he was so uncomfortable and out of his element that he got completely smashed as people tend to do to pass by times of unease and discomfort. It may not be how it goes down in the books, but it's perfectly reasonable given the circumstance and the way they've built up Tyrion.
  4. Old, wise, honorable, boring (To Lysa, but can't be entirely for Robert to love him). I guess that's the extent of what we know of him. It's a bit of a reach really to compare people to him.
  5. It's also sad that week-to-week this thread is like 2 pages long and half of it is book readers.
  6. I suppose the "spoiling" process apparently takes time. I don't know.
  7. I'd have to disagree even though I also gave this episode a 9, because acting can only do so much given the quality of writing. Charles Dance alluded to that in a Thronecast interview. Fortunately this episode was well written and directed but that hasn't always been the case. It's rare but sometimes they have a couple scenes that are a but difficult to get through because the cheese factor seeps through. But yes, this show overall is one of the best cast and acted I've ever seen, especially considering how completely unconventional some of the characters are.
  8. She does that, yet he still doesn't trust her and is tense. She offers him wine, bathes him, gives him nice clothes. How long do you want this scene to be, 4 days so that she can build up a friendship with him? The quickest and most effective way of getting his guard down was to seduce him. The boy was just betrayed by people who he believed he could trust, for God's sake. Of course they like to show nudity -- because the viewers demand it as a majority. But this wasn't a case of inexplicable and tasteless nudity. You're in denial that your prejudice for anything being different from show to book causes you to come up with frivolous and poorly reasoned arguments.
  9. What do you think the whole lambs to slaughter thing was? There was a direct parallel she drew with slaughtering a beast and performing a blood sacrifice to the LoL. She said it with her own words. There were hundreds of ways that scene could have gone, but I actually enjoyed the way it went. Could it have been better? Yeah, probably. But I'm not in denial. You seem to be though.
  10. Because the show is not the book? Some details are different, such as Melissandre's insistence that the blood be Kosher which actually totally makes sense from a religious zealot's perspective. Better realize that the show isn't the book soon or you're always going to be complaining about things that are ultimately pretty trivial and thus enjoying the experience less.
  11. Because poisoning the blood you want to be as perfect as possible for a ritual is a good idea?
  12. Pyp, Grenn, Sam, Jon, and Edd are all pretty much good guys and friends. They will believe Sam, and people will believe them. Some people might not but who the fuck cares? We only know like 5 characters from the wall that aren't dead.
  13. I'm not ignoring anything. You're ignoring the fact that Sam is not a liar and even if they don't trust wildlings his story is still corroborated. He'll also explain why anybody would ever bury the dragon glass since they know a brother hid them for a reason. It's just so obvious that they will believe him, why wouldn't he just fucking say he slew it with a sword if he wanted to seem like a hero which he very clearly never tries to be.
  14. Some people are comfortable watching sex scenes because the idea of two people having sex or being nude doesn't frighten the altar boy in us. I don't understand this pretend higher moral ground some posters have where nudity is supposed to only be shown when its 100% necessary.
  15. I don't even know what you're referring to about her wolfness.
  16. I don't see what this has to do with him bring happy with his new bride. If anything it's worse in the books since he's not "a complete jackass."
  17. Sam is a self confessed coward and a friend of Grenn and co, not to mention Jon. So think about whether or not they'll actually believe him. He has no reason to lie and neither does Gillly, wildling or not.
  18. What reason do they have to disbelieve Sam and Gilly other than it gives you an excuse to complain about something? Sure they'll be surprised and skeptical at first but ultimately Sam has no reason to make it up since he's quite honest about his cowardice and Gilly has no reason to lie whatsoever.
  19. I really fucking hate book Daario, but show Daario is actually ok. He doesn't look completely ridiculous and the stuff he says seems almost reasonable as opposed to completely over the top.
  20. Gave it a 9. Pretty much everything worked for me. The final scene was really great with all the ravens. The sounds alone were great.
  21. I rewatched the episode and the first watch I had, I totally agreed with you. But while I'd love for a prolonged scene, from a totally neutral standpoint what the hell were they going to do? A man with 1 arm and a woman with a wooden sword. The idea was get the fuck out ASAP, which was a great idea. It was even suspending belief that Brienne was still alive by the time Jaime arrived. Lingering in the pit rather than just sprinting out ASAP would've been pretty stupid.
