It's 500AL. How will the current events and people go down in history?

Stormland's Fury

Depending on what region you're on, Tywin will be remembered in a different way. In the north, he'll be remembered as a soulless, evil, tyrant who tried and (probably) failed to wipe out the Starks.

In his homeland, he'll be remembered as a man who was ruthless, but a perfect example of what a military commander needed to be in a time of war. He'll be remembered as the man who was unfortunate enough to be ridden with three kingslayers for children; one an incestual knight who wasted his ability; one an incestual queen consumed by evil and a desire for power, and another who was a barely human dwarf. I don't expect the Lannister children will be remembered very well after the series. Ironically, they'll all be viewed as Kingslayers despite having very varying levels of culpability.

Robb will be remembered as an almost mythical figure in the north, with rumours that he warged into his direwolf in battle. There will be hatred for the treacherous Freys and Boltons. Sansa will be remembered as the North's most noble and beautiful woman.

Robert will be seen as a brave, fearless warrior who slew the Targaryens, while Stannis will be seen as a treacherous man of black magic, unless he manages to seat himself on the IT and continue the Baratheon dynasty.

"What about Theon the Clever?"

"Renly was the best of them. He was the king who should have been."

I can see Theon going down poorly in history, unless he does something major in the last two books which changes that perception. He'll be hated by the north for attempting to take Winterfell, even if that hate dies down slightly when they find out he didn't kill Bran and Rickon, and providing Ironborn culture doesn't change he'll be remembered as a weakling by them who didn't belong.

You're right about Renly though. People will see him as a king who should have been; another version of Robert, and they'll probably see Stannis as the evil man of black magic who murdered his own brother in cold blood.

I wonder what will they say about Cersei. She was the most powerful woman in Westeros before her imprisonment.

Once the truth emerges about her, she'll go down as a wicked woman of incest who murdered the brave King who overthrew the Targaryens. Although if she tries to bring KL to ruin, she may go down as all of that, but with the title of being mad as well on top of the rest of it.

Tywin is already half a legend his either going to go down as the crueliest man in history or the most feared, to the victor goes the tellers of histories.

Tyrion will be remembered as the evil demon monkey that set the Blackwater Bay afire nd sent 100,000 men to their deaths. Then after the battle he forced the fair and beautiful sister of the Young wolf whom was deeply in love with his nephew the king.

Also this evil demon monkey whom hated his nephew so much he killed him at his own wedding feast and forced his young bride to watch.

Men will sing of the terrible and glorious deeds of the Ghost of Renly in til the end of time.

Little boys will want to be the man that people called the Young Wolf whom died undefeat and was only trying to rescue his father from the evil clutches of the Queen. Young girls will go to sleep with stars in their eyes as they wait for their own true love that would rather have died than dishonor a fair maid. Jeyne Westerly will go down in history as the most fair woman in the realm until the mad dragon queen landed in Westeros.

Jamie will go down as the Last Lion whom defended KingsLanding against a "Dragon" from burning only for his evil twin to finish the job later. In grief of the loss of her golden children that are said to haunt the ruins of KL.

Aegon will be the King the rode to save the realm only for his mad and power crazy aunt came and burned him alive then offering him to her dragon.

Jon will be the King that conquered death. He worn no crown, sired no bastard and died only to come back to save the realm.

Stannis will be the crazed brother of the Glorious Robert whom rode to save the realm after he was robbed of his true love from the Dragon's clutches. He burned his enemies alive to use for dark and evil magics upon the land is the reason the long night came again.

Jon Snow- He will be remembered fondly, if he either rules or dies fighting the Others. The people will love him.

Tywin Lannister will be a an cautionary tale on how not to run a House, and so will Mace Tyrell.

The Boltons and Freys will be remembered as a Rat Cook-style cautionary tale on guest right.

Cersei will be remembered as the Mad Queen and the Queen who Burnt King's Landing. She will be one of the worst monarchs of Westeros.

Dany will be remembered fondly by the freedmen and their descendants, but hated by the rest of Westeros for her role in the Dance of Dragon 2.0, as well as the burning of the Citadel.

In retrospect Robert's rebellion, the Greyjoy rebellion, the wot5k and the 2nd dance of dragons would probably be considered parts of the same great war.

I think so too. Just like many people today think that the Wars of Roses was one continuous conflict.

Like they tell the story of Bran the Builder, they tell the story of Bran the Seer, who became one with the forces of Nature to repel the Others. They say a giant traveled with him. They say he could turn into a direwolf. They even say he could talk to crows, and met the Children of the Forest.

Of course, any educated adult in Westeros could tell you this is nothing more than a myth, since the Others and the Children never existed. But in the smallfolk, every time winter comes, they say Bran the Seer will wake from his decade-long slumber to make sure another spring comes ...

They will erect the Great Titan of Stannis in the middle of King's Landing.

The Braavosi titan will look puny when compared to Stan the Man's Titan.

This titan will also have a build-in fountain in the crotch so he pisses down on the rabble.

The notion that songs and legends often get it wrong is a recurring pattern in ASOIF (see Tyrion’s divergent evaluations of Baelor, and Bloodraven), I doubt that Martin will break with it in the end. We already see it happening with Tyrion and Dany, who, while certainly no saints, don’t quite deserve most of the nasty rumours associated with them. And quite a few people who were crucial players might end up flying completely under the radar (Varys and Littlefinger, for instance.)

My predictions:

Robb Stark, the young Wolf. Yet another itineration of the tragic young hero, cut down in his prime. Like Daeron before him and probably Aegon after him. And even Renly, to a certain degree. Although certainly less accomplished than Robb, Renly fits the general template well enough, and history is often not that precise. In a couple of millenia, they all blurr into one.

Daenerys Stormborm, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Aegon the Conquerer come again. A highly polarizing figure, both reviled and beloved, depending on who you’ll ask. Might probably end up with a reputation similiar to Catherine the Great. Sufficiently feared and respected while alive, lots of nasty rumours after her death (maybe even involving horses as well…). Slurs about her person notwithstanding, her reign might end up being considered a golden age - but not necessarily for Westeros.

Tyrion. He has a bit of a Richard III thing going on, doesn’t he? What with being suspected of having murdered his nephew and everything. The lattest TWOW preview sample chapter couldn't make it more blatant. No matter how heroic his role in the War for Dawn, will probably remain a villain in the eyes of the ignorant plebs.

Stannis. No idea. Great villain, great saviour, hapless pretender, 1000th Lord Commander - everything’s a possibility with Stannis. If he remains on the side of humanity, he might steal quite a bit of Jon’s thunder, his deception about the AA thing forever undiscovered (and why should it matter, that Mel did a bit of creative flame-reading in his favour? By the end, he might well have earned the hype).

Jon Snow. A local legend, fondly remembered for his diplomatic efforts in uniting the North and the Wildlings and his brave (but unsuccessful) defense of the Wall against the Others, but as far as heroes go, probably comparatively unsung. Only few will know the true extent of his importance in the War for Dawn and the secret of his real heritage and the knowledge will die with them.

Well, history is written by the victors so I don't think we can really say until closer to the end.

Legend is different, though. I think legends of Renly's ghost on the Blackwater will thrive as they already are. Beric Dondarrion will be at least as memorable as those outlaws that used to be in the Kingswood. The Young Dragon and The Red Wedding will definitely become the stuff of legend, though because of the way the Frey's have been embellishing it the story will likely become as fantastical as Night's King, probably with elements of shapeshifting or at least warging, and always carrying the strong moral of guest right. If word of what Manderly did to the Frey's gets out, the two stories might merge so that Manderly's vengeance for his son is reinterpreted as vengeance for the Red Wedding. Depending on how the surviving Stark kids figure in future events, tales will definitely told of the five trueborn children of Ned Stark and his one bastard with their direwolves. As of ADwD, Jon will definitely be remembered as the young Lord Commander, bastard of Eddard Stark, that turned his cloak and let the wildlings through the Wall. If Dany succeeds, in a few hundred years she'll be as fabled as Aegon, Rhaenys and Visenya, and even if she fails to gain the Iron Throne Meereen, Astapor and Yunkai will always remember her impact, and she might become a well known pretender to the throne. I feel like the whole Lannister dynasty will definitely live on, mainly through stories of Jaime and Cersei's incest, but also maybe Tyrion, and definitely Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella.

Jaime/Cersei will go down in history as a darkish Dragonknight story, simultaneously reviled and fascinating.

Ramsay/Theon/Jeyne will become a ghost story whispered in the North, saved only for the darkest winter nights.

Brotherhood without Banners will be a beloved folk story of ser Beric and his Merry Men: Fat Priest Thoros, the Archer, the Hangwoman Lady Stoneheart and the Bull.

The Young Wolf is already a myth in the making, it's only a matter of time until people decide he was a powerful warg who changed into a great wolf. The Freys will be forever despised (which is why I don't get Late Lord Walder's plan at all).

Jon and Daenerys are the most dependant on the outcome of their respective storylines, as the new Last Hero/Night King or Mad Queen/Mother of Dragons respectively.

Oh and poor Tyrion is forever doomed as the Kin(g)slaying Twisted Little Monkey Demon. That will be his personal bittersweet ending.
