COTF die out in the North?

When did the COTF die out in the North south of the wall, I know they were wipe from the South by the Andals. But surely the First Men kept them safe for a time considering their history together. So when did they die out and why did the first men turn on the them or did they move beyond the wall voluntarily?

After the Long Night they began retreating further north voluntarily, but then the arrival of the Andals caused more distance, I think. So that probably expedited their move.

Who said they have all died out, many believe that the ghost of high-heart is actually a COTF and who knows they could be living in remote places or in the swamps of the neck still as it is said the crannogmen grew close to the COTF and are unlike the other people of Westeros in culture, physique and knowledge.

The people of the north might not have killed them directly but with the two races competing for resources the first men were always going to win because they could make more use of the food by ways such as farming and fishing and Humans reproduce at a rate that the COTF could have no hope of matching.
