The important thing in R+L=J is not Rhaegar

If R+L=J is true (can't see how it wouldn't be, the other theories doesn't fit the timeline as well as this one), the important thing will not be that Jon is Rhaegar's son. Jon already has a father. A father who raised him and loved him as his own. The important thing will be that Jon is Lyanna's son. Jon has never known his mother, but always wanted to know who she is and what she was like. If Jon meet Howland Reed, he might finally learn this. And with that his identity is finally complete, which I think is what he need for accepting his role in the final events of the books (whatever that is).

I kind of agree that him being a Bastard of the Stark line is important, maybe more important to the story than him being Rhaegars son. Its seems that trueborns & Bastards of Targ & Stark lines will be necessary to save the day.

Bloodraven is supposedly a Bastard of the Targ line & Bran a trueborn of the Stark line. Both seem to be working to save the world of men.

Daenerys is a trueborn of the Targ line, while Jon is a Bastard of the Stark line. Both seem destined to fight to save the world of men.

Probably means nothing, but just a theory.

Agree that he will always see Ned as his father though.
