TimJames
Say you can give five modern technologies to Westros. All factions get the tech you choose. And you can't opt out.Which five technologies would you pick?

Why give a society that's already plagued by violence the means to commit more violence more efficiently?

Veloknight
Railways(faster story sans travelogue)Modern medicine(avoid so many deaths)Wireless communication(Varys will have an easy job tapping phones)Printing Press(cheaper literacy?)Electricity This answer - and "mass production" does lead me to wonder what the OP means by 'tech'. In games like Civ, technologies can come nice and neatly wrapped up - but in reality, medicine, mass production, engines, etc., are all very complicated and rely both on iterative improvements in their own 'tech tree' as well as advances in other technologies (can build better/lighter/faster engines with more advanced metallurgy, etc.,). I'd be interested in brainstorming how to make the biggest difference in Westeros using the smallest possible concepts/technologies (that is, ones that don't imply other technology to function, but which can lead to many more advancements themselves). Howlin' Howland
GMOs to increase their agriculture yields, antibiotics to increase health, printing press to increase literacy, steam engine to increase transportation, and telephone to increase communication. Blind Beth the Cat Lady
So I'm looking at this from the perspective of handing out a bunch of specific, physical things that are going to have to be useful in Westeros as it stands. If I just want to mess with them...1. Gunpowder2. Mustard gas3. Dragon Nip (sorry, Dany)4. Distilleries5. Steam Engine (without guidebook) If I actually want to help people...1. Microscopes (a few of these in the citadel should cause Germ Theory to happen pretty quick)2. Distilleries (these must exist in Planetos because some sailors have rum, but there's been no sign of them in Westeros. Would be useful for distilling alcohol for recreational, economy-boosting, and medical purposes. Distilling things besides alcohol also has medical/scientific value.)3. Morse Code chart (could communicate reasonably long distances using lanterns/mirrors/Myrish telescopes)4. Compost-based heating systems5. Steam Engine (with guidebook)
