Pretty lucky girl, right?

Look at the tragedies that befell both commoners and highest noblewomen accused of being "whores".

While Marilda... Bore a bastard at 16. Refused to name the father. Not married off to someone below her status (yes, no surname, but her father was a shipwright - and a pretty rich commoner at that). Not packed off to Faith, not driven out of home. Left to raise her bastard and bear next in her father´s home.

No bastard surname to brand her children - no surname, despite being rich for commoners. No brethren or such alternative heirs. Age 26, became the heiress of her father - who was no mere manual labourer, but had a capital sufficient to buy a ship with.

And in a space of 6 years, traded so profitably as to expand from 1 ship to 7.

Was she a good trader?

If she was a woman of independent means after age 26, she would no longer have had to answer to any man if she chose not to sleep alone year after year, but bear a third bastard. She never did.

How about alternatives, like... Corlys?

If Corlys was the father of her children and cared about them, but no longer dared to attract Rhaenys´ suspicion by contact close enough to father more, he still might have quietly transferred money to Mouse, by providing her business deals too sweet to be free market ones.

In which case, it might have been an express condition of the jealous Corlys that Mouse sleep alone if Snake is afraid to get in her bed? Mouse´s father being in on the deal - he would not have become owner of shipyard´s capital if he disowned Corlys´ paramour or packed her off by any marriage.
