Undead Ned With No Head
This might be a dumb question but where does this surname come from before as Orys is the first mention and presumed a Targ bastard so why Baratheon why this name. E-Ro
Well house Durrendon were the storm kings for many many years before the targs were around. In fact, its one of the oldest houses, right next to the starks. after the battle of the last storm the house was given to orys who took its lands, castle, bannermen, words, and sigil, but not its name. we dont know how the name "Baratheon" originally started, so no one can answer that question. Djinn
Could've been the family name of Orys mother. After all, there's no mention of the name replacement tradition for bastards in Essos.
