Lord Bored Posted April 16, 2014 Share Posted April 16, 2014 I remember there were rumors last year of Hoji Fortuna being cast as Brown Ben for this season but it got debunked pretty quickly and it was revealed that that actor would likely only be appearing as an extra if he even appeared at all. Makes me wonder though when/if theyre planning on bringing Ben in. He's become a pretty prominent supporting character in the books as of DWD so I'd be surprised if they left him out. Personally my ideal scenario is that he is referenced throughout the back half of Season. 4, with there being talk about how he is on his way to Meereen to pledge his sword to Dany. Then he's finally introduced at the start of Season 5 being given an official seat on the council. He quickly becomes wary once he sees the marriage between her and Hizdahr coming together. He ultimately realizes she's a lost cause and by the back-half of the season meets up with Tyrion in Yunkai. I really do hope, if they are indeed planning on bringing him in, that they would drop his name on us a few times by the end of this season just to get us even the least bit familiarized with the character (that way we wouldn't just have some random guy we haven't had a clue about beforehand showing up out of nowhere one day, ala Roose's introduction in Season 2) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ser Tahu Posted April 18, 2014 Share Posted April 18, 2014 I think the most likely scenario is that he will be combined with the Tattered Prince (which is a shame, as he and Tatters are by far the most interesting of the sellsword captains we have met), take both the role of Tatters in Quentyn's storyline and BBP in Tyrion's. Tangbrand Posted April 20, 2014 Share Posted April 20, 2014 I'm pretty sure that they will introduce a few new characters in Danys storyline in season 5, as there is some characters in the books, who become more important in DWD. And if D&D sticks to the journey of the main characters as seen in the books (which they did so far), then there will be room for these new characters (Mormont sent away from Dany, and I think Daario mostly spends his time in the books 'offscreen' fighting somewhere around Meereen). But there are still many characters left out from Danys storyline (Jhogo, Jhiqui, Belwas, Groleo, etc.), dunno what will becaome of Brown Ben in the TV series, he might be introduced later in the plotline, just like the Reeds. protar Posted April 20, 2014 Share Posted April 20, 2014 I think merging him with Tatters would be the best route, with a dash more Tattered Prince than Ben. Have him arrive with Quentyn, swearing his allegiance to Dany. Then have him betray Dany mid-season, have Tyrion team up with him and have Quentyn arrange the Dragonknapping with him late season during the truce state between Meereen and Yunkai. Daario will switch sides to Yunkai during season 5, be the one to hire Tyrion and Jorah, and switch back to Dany's side during the battle. Instead of having Daario become a hostage, they could give that role to someone like Grey Worm or someone yet to be introduced. I like Brown Ben and would like to see him on the show, but I have a feeling he's gonna be cut, unfortunately.
