She planted Preston Greenfield, Boros Blount and Meryn Trant on the Kingsguard, and prevented Richard Horpe (a Baratheon loyalist). But having a wife who tries to help you get along with your family is normal, but I would bet Cersei tried to pour gasoline on every smouldering ember of resentment. Sanity comes handy, too :D On a sidenote, you can't delegate power when everybody is trying to take it away from you, foes as much as allies. For example, Cersei did ask Kevan to be Tommen's Hand, he said he'd do only if she retired to Casterly Rock. The Tyrells would have kept on taking more, as Kevan himself observed in his epilogue. More importantly he wanted her away from Tommen before she turned him into another Joffrey which was what Jaime and Tywin also wanted and their fear wasn't unwarranted. No Song so Sweet Posted August 1, 2014 Share Posted August 1, 2014 If Cersei didn't do what she did, then Robert would be a half-decent king. The whole war was caused mainly by Cersei's actions. Sure Varys may have caused a war anyway later, but Cersei sleeping with Jamie, bringing up Joffrey, being responsible for Bran's fall and assassination attempt, killing Lady, assassinating Robert, attacking Ned and capturing Sansa were the things that caused the war. All the decisions that she took after she took power were amazingly fast at bringing the whole realm down (even Varys says so)... Robert's reign was fairly stable, Cersei managed to destroy everything in a matter of months while having all the requirements to make it more stable with the Tyrells.
