White Neighbor
First the arm of Dorne ,then ( a failed?) the neck ,the Cotf have shown true display of massive water displacement powers. Logic dictates that it freezes in cold and being at war with the first men, wouldn't it be a efficient way to build such an impossible structure.? i know there is a lot of hole with such an incomplete theory but what are your thoughts? Daendrew
Rhoynar magics can lift rivers. Nothing the Children have done indicates they can do that. They have earth and tree magics. Not water. I think the remaining male Rhoynar and their wizzards made their way to Braavos and could play a role with FM.
Daendrew
More probably it is a wall built by the Others to keep men south rather than the Others up north. Thats why there is a magic door where you have to say magic words to get through. Now _that_ sounds Childreny.
White Neighbor
I too buy into that keep the men out of the north theory...but wasn't it a flood at the neck ?? i'll check it out and report ...thx for the lead on Rhoynar that would be a sick way to connect Dorne and the north

If the Others reach the Lighthouse and prevent it from getting lit, all hope is lost. The Lighthouse needs Lightbringer to light the way.

From the world book :Legend says that the great floods that brokethe land bridge that is now the Broken Arm andmade the Neck a swamp were the work of thegreenseers, who gathered at Moat Cailin to workdark magic. I have to presume the breaking of the arm of Dorne was a similar spell...Haven't checked out the Rhoynar and the lighthouse lead...brb

Will do a big write up, but basically the essence is that Lightbringer will provide the spark of both heat and light to relight the lighthouse that will recast a curtain of light on the world after everything goes dark in the Long Night. Mrs.Grumpy
It's earth magic :PThey allegendly caused an earthquake to break the Arm during the First Men Invasion. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's real or not. Because some parts of Braavos are drowning, Pyke too. Thousand Islands are said to be remnants of a drowned kingdom. It happens everywhere...must be magic, like how Essos dries up. :dunno:
White Neighbor
Maybe they got both magic ...just a flipside of Nature magic which could incorporate almost every other magic there is
The Dragon has three heads
The neck has plot holes all through it. Moat Cailen being one of them. Why was the second hammer called FROM the children's tower? why was this giant structure even there when the children do NOT build in stone. The Moat is the 6th fort. Daendrew
The crypt of Winterfell is the 7th fort.
The Dragon has three heads
^^ don't hate it But there's no mention of what the crypts are made of...
Ziester
I think the remaining male Rhoynar and their wizzards made their way to Braavos and could play a role with FM. There's an interesting part in the Winterfell Huis Clois that argues pretty convincingly that Val is a Moonsinger of Braavos, which implies cultural contact with the far North. Daendrew
Shower thoughts: I now disagree with my own theory. The crypt at Winterfell is not the 7th fort. The lighthouse on Battle Island is. The crypt at Winterfell is a hinge of the world. Hinges open doors and allow "Others" to pass through.
