No. GRRM mentioned that he had some influence from the War of the Roses to wrote ASoIsF.  The war was between The YORK and LANCASTER.   Any similarity between STARK and LANNISTER?

Edd, Jon, Rob, Cat are only characters in the show that are not "gray" as was mentioned before. It is crystal clear that if there are not the hero they are the example of goodness in the show. Their antagonists, cannot be the heroes.

If the Lannisters are the house of Lancaster, they lose for a time to York, but eventually win in the guise of Tudor.

If the Starks are supposed to be analogous to Lancaster, then Jon Snow would be the rough equivalent of Henry Tudor.

I think the 'influence from the War(s) of the Roses' is simply shorthand for a massive Civil War with no clear legitimate heirs to a Kingdom in turmoil. The Longer TWoW is delayed, the more that D&D will be able to stamp their 'vision' on the work. While they have some good moments, they are too tied to trying to shock, when subtle surprise would be more satisfying in the long run.

I think Jaime heads North.  This allows for several different possibilities:  the destruction of the Freys, a possible encounter with an UnBryndon, a revelation from a certain absentee Crannogman, the possibility of becoming a Kingmaker, an encounter with Bran, a battle with the WW.  Whether its the books or the show, Jaime's path is North, not back to KL.

The lannister destroyed westeros for the most part. 3 great houses were destroyed, Dorne is no longer part of the kingdom, King's landing is under the control of a religious tyrant. All the armies of westeros have been dimished. All of this happened by the machinations of the Lannisters
