  1. Half of what youre saying is just your interpretation. I didn't get any of that from her last shot in s4. I interpreted it more as LF possibly falling for her. And to her saving LF: She lied to some random Vale-lords, I don't see how that makes her the scheming badass, everybody seems to want.
  2. Oh in that case, why are we even waiting for the sixth book? I'm sure GRRM has said in interviews that he is planning ASOIAF to be a trilogy. I honestly don't even understand what Im supposed to do with those other two books. Also didn't George Lucas say he would never let somebody else do Star Wars? That The Force Awakens thingy must be a fan film.
  3. I don't get what people are clamoring for with Sansa. She did one "manipulative" thing last season and everyone was suddenly expecting her to become this big player. I also don't get where people see that in book Sansa. I assume GRRMs plan is to make her more of a player eventually, but so far even book Sansa has barely started getting there.
  4. I didn't even want to post anything this week, cause there's really nothing to add left, but come the fuck on. That's possibly the single most retarded complaint I've heard so far. If that gets your eyes rolling they are probably spinning out of your head. Its crap like that that gives bookreaders such a bad rep. Alright, since I'm already writing: Yeah, pretty solid episode. The sansa-stuff is still a big question mark, though. It might work in the end, it might not, impossible to say so far. Liked the Sam-stuff, finally liked some of the Dorne stuff, the Mereen-stuff was pretty forced plotwise but I'll allow it. Only thing: I kind of disliked that the Tyrion/Daenerys meet felt so small and insignificant. I guess that's another bookreader thing. I've been waiting for that moment for quite sometime and D&D took it away from GRRM without really doing it justice. Another thing I've noticed: Some places could really use some establishing shots. They obviously spent loads of money on giving us Meeren and other cities in Essos. But we haven't really seen what Winterfell looks like since it was burned down and Dorne has been a couple of open fields of grass and a garden. We have not seen a single dornish civilian person, which makes Dorne feel really small.
  5. Oh, I missed that too. Gotta watch that scene again. I guess Cersei got to him off screen. But regardless, the whole thing is still pretty flimsy to me. Just how easily Cersei could navigate the Sparrows and how powerful they became within a couple of episodes didn't gel together. But as I said, I had trouble following that plot in the books as well. So maybe its just my own stupidity. :D To the people who have a problem with the victimization of Sansa. What the hell did you expect? Sure she grew and got better at playing the game, and she's far from the naive Sansa from a couple of seasons ago. But her situation must have been fucking terrifying. To be alone with a murdering psychopath, who's about to take your virginity while the guy who supposably killed your brother is watching. It would have been absolutely ridicoulous if she had suddenly pulled a Margery and just dropped her clothes and started riding Ramsay like nothing. THAT would have been character assassination! I hated the scene, it was awful to watch but in this context it's absolutely believable. What the fuck is wrong with you man? Of course it was rape. Watch the scene again, Ramsay is obviously making her things she doesn't want to do. Forcing her to undress, ripping her clothes off while she is terrifiied, making the murderer of her brothers watch? I don't know what you have going on in your bedroom, but that's not consensual sex. I am really not one of those hardcore feminists, that cry rape when you look at them weirdly. But that scene was very obviously rape.
  6. Man am I glad I'm not the only one, who has trouble following the power shifts in KL. I was already expecting somebody to school me on the intricacies of the Sparrows milicia. :D Yeah, the North stuff isn't perfect, but I really want to withhold judgment, cause it's not clear to me where they are going with that. LFs plans are still kind of nebulous, especially since we don't have any more book knowledge to go off of. As to Dorne: That storyline isn't great on a script level, but honestly, it's just poorly acted and directed as well. Especially the most recent stuff was surprisingly poorly staged. Really oddly clumsy.
  7. Oh that fucking birthmark. I can't even... What a stupid plot device. Jeez. And I have to say that whole plot doesn't really sit right with me but I kind of didn't really get it in the books either. The amount of power the High Sparrow has, I don't know, I just really don't get it. How is he that legitimized and shouldn't the Gold Cloaks protect the Queen as well? How can a fucking queen be that easily inprisoned? Same later on with Cersei. I felt like it wasn't explained properly in the books and I still feel that way after watching the episode. But nothing is as fucking awful as the Dorne plot. The way Jaime/Bronn and the Sandsnakes just walked into the Water Gardens, while neither the prince nor his bride to be are protected in any way. Couldn't just any random peasant walk inside and stab them both to death? And of course, what a coincidence, both parties come in to kidnap Marcella at the same exact time, like it's a fucking Coen Brothers movie. Ah goddamnit, that whole scene just pissed me off. That plot didn't make any sense to begin with, but it get's worse and worse each episode. The Tyrion-stuff I like so far. That scene with Eco was pretty funny and so far they have tightened up the whole plot pretty cleverly. I'm not too big a fan of the way they whitewashed Tyrion, but it still all works reasonably well. Man, that Sansa part, though. That really got to me. I couldn't believe they actually went there. But so far I can't really find anything wrong with it. My gut tells me to hate it, but I'm pretty sure that's just the book reader in me, trying to reject that huge of a departure. But honestly, so far every book reader argument against the scene just sounds like a way to rationalize that same gut reaction. I get it, I hated it too, but there's no rational reason why it couldn't work for the show. Honestly, we just have to wait and see, where D&D are going with it. I really think it's to early to make a judgement.
  8. Yeah, pretty much agree about Barristan being wasted but on the other hand, those last 10 minutes had me gasping for air. I don't know, on one hand I really loved watching the episode, it was pure television, with great visuals, great dialogue and great world building. But as soon as the titles rolled the book-reader-voice came back nagging. There's just so much stuff that didn't make sense, if you know the books and how the characters are "supposed" to work. I probably can't add anything new to the conversation but I still feel like venting: - Cersei basically bullying her only son into butting heads with the Faith militant makes no goddamn sense. There's no way she'd push him into such a dangerous situation. - I didn't use to hate LF as much as most book readers seem to, but that stuff with Sansa doesn't sit right with me at all. - The Mel/Jon scene was just outright terrible. Terrible, terrible, softcore bullshit and I really hate how much they simplifiy Jons character. - I am alright with the way they are reshuffeling the Dorne plot, but the individual scenes this week and last week were just not particularly well written or acted. But I never cared about Dorne too much and I am generally fine with the way they are handling it. - A little detail: Man, I hate Bronns and Jaimes outfits, they look like they belong to a 90s undercover cop show. A friend of mine insists that middleage wardrobe would look like that, but I to my sensibilities it looks terrible anachronistic. What I liked: - The Bronn/Jaime battle as well as the one at the end were really exciting. - I loved all the backstory they worked in. Shittons of R+L=J stuff. Man if they were to do an actual Tourney at Harrenhal flashback, I'd fucking lose my shit. That was the first thing I was thinking of when I heard about young Cersei being cast. - There's some stuff I didn't like about the way they escalated things in KL, but all in all they are doing a solid job reworking the bloated mess they were given. Let's be honest here, as fun to read as crazy Cersei is, that plot took ages to unfold. Sure, the result may not be perfect, but neither was the source material. - Also, let's just take a step back. With all the negging and nitpicking it's worth reminding everyone that we are watching the most beautifully realized TV show ever made. That shot of Daenerys watching over Meeren is amazing, the battle at the end was beautifully choreographed, the Wall is still a perfect translation from book to TV. As much as I like to get worked up about the details, it's still a miracle how well they translated Westeros and Essos to the screen.
  9. Yeah I' absolutely with you guys on that. After seasons of Sansa being one of the most annoying characters in the series, this episode I suddenly caught myself wishing they would cut the Tyrion part and go back to her. The scene with her meeting Ramsay and Roose for the first time: Gut wrenching! Especially since we know how important WF becomes at the end of ADWD I am unbelievably curious, where they are going with this. Perfect synergy of book and series, where knowing the book plot makes you actually more invested in the show plot. There's stuff I disliked about the episode; the Margery/Cersei stuff was funny and well acted but kind of childish and I really hate how much they demystify Varys. Also I think Jons storyline is really rushed this season and I imagine Unsullied are going to have a hard time understanding him and his motivations. They definitely needed to spend another couple of minutes last week and this week on fleshing out those parts and going deeper into Jons psyche. I know you can never go as deep as the books do, but the last episodes were huge for Jon and D&D didn't translate that too well, in my opinion. But I am definitely very pretty happy with what they are doing in WF.
  10. Man, that whole Loras thing is getting blown out of proportion here, it's not even funny. I'm just glad I wasn't here when the Cersei/Jaime-Rape thing happened. Yes, it was a stupid sex-position scene, like, really stupid, but come on, the character isn't that important. Who really cares? There is so much significant stuff. Like how they basically destroyed the whole WTF-Moment of Varys killing Kevan and all of the ambiguity of his motivations. That's the thing that honestly pissed me off the most about the episode. Besides that there is small stuff I didnt like too much, like Stannis constant smiling kind of irritated me. But overall I'm pretty happy. The cinematography got really good in the past four years and I'm quite happy that they are going to strike that whole boring first half of Tyrions aDwD chapters. I'm really worried about the Winterfell/Sansa/LF stuff, especially cause I loved all the Reek/Theon stuff in the book, but I'll give em the benefit of the doubt. And yes, I will stay upset about the lack of LSH for at least another season or two. :D But at that point we can give up. It ain't happening.
