What was the point of r+l=j

The writing this season has been nothing short of terrible - BUT - R+L=J is key because it's the catalyst behind Jon's lineage which is the catalyst behind Dany's attack on Queen's Landing. That clear isn't it?

[Poll] How would you rate episode 805?

I'd say 'boring' was certainly one thing that this episode wasn't.

We didn’t see the Night King at he end of E02

I have a feeling the battle will be over the next two episodes with the remainder of the story essentially 'crammed' into two episodes - which would be disappointing.

We didn’t see the Night King at he end of E02

That would be great. I think people want to see closure to the human/personal storylines over and above the WW/Army of the Dead scenario.

    Who is Going to Die

Highly unlikely that Bran dies in my opinion. All in the crypt other than Samwell (although I fear for Sam & Gilly). Theon, Lyanna Mormont, Brienne, Podrick all at risk IMO plus countless others.

    Why so serious?

Exactly this. It's more volume over anything else.

Is the power of the White Walkers and Wight's not compromised without the NK present? Or is it merely linked to the NK being 'alive'?

    Thoughts on Bran’s character development

Personally think it's unfair to judge (the character, the actor and D&D) mid-story/season without seeing the result. If Bran is the vehicle behind saving key characters (which he is likely to be) then that's surely the pay-off?

    Harry Strickland - Golden Company

Oh i totally didn't make the connection! Thanks. Completely, that was a factor in leading me to think there was a parallel and maybe more of an underlying role for him in the series, i.e. Jaime goes North, Strickland then directly fills that role with Cersei. Although I'd assume screentime with Strickland/Cersei will be minimal from this point so maybe not.

    Harry Strickland - Golden Company

As Harry Strickland has now been introduced into the show, he has clear differences between the equivalent character of the book. Harry Strickland in the book is decribed as older and portly (also a big fan of elephants) whereas as TV Harry Strickland is obviously younger and conventionallty attractive. Do we think this is merely a nod to the book fans or is there a clear reasoning for the differences i.e. potential romantic link? I wouldn't have thought there is time to bring in a new romantic connection at this point but who knows with D&D.

    Jon (Aegon) and Daenerys

This. Even more to the point, if she'd spared Dickon (snigger), the situation may have been different given the instruction he had from his father to bend the knee. Daenerys has majorly weakened herself here with Sam likely to become more and more key to the plot.

    I am the Queen

I'd like to think it's foreshadowing because it felt like a bit of an arse of a statement to make, especially coupled with the Tywin quote. She's sad it all the way through the Series as well.

What kind of weapon will Gendry make for Arya?

The kind of 'cold' welcome with each character followed by the thaw fairly immediately after. Same with Bran & Sansa last season. Jon, Gendry and The Hound (granted, understandably) in this episode. Just feels like she's been majorly over-characterised.

    Jon (Aegon) and Daenerys

Given the way she has dropped people before (Viserys, Jorah for a time, Daario, Drogo to a degree), I don't think it would be a huge shock if she did the same to Jon given what is now at stake.

Choose your allegiance - green or black.

If the show is following the books and GRRM's line of mirroring the real world in the story, I wouldn't be surprised to see Daenerys on top (in more ways than one).
